Personally I think it was pointless to have a maybe option, since it doesn't do anything for either side of the issue, but I guess it was put in so people who can't decide could still feel like they were participating.

Well, no, that's not how it works.
Put yourself in Tess's place. You're trying to gauge whether or not you should make this change. 52 percent wants the change to happen, and 12 percent doesn't care. That means 64 percent of users are not against the change.

But that also means that 12 % doesn't particularly want the change either.

But Tess does. They've put a lot of work into the project, and it would make it a lot easier for artist's down the road.

uhhh, shame on me for not entirely trusting people who have known they've been using stolen art for months and doing nothing about it?
Again, I don't dislike staff. Tess is super nice. Staff is almost all super nice. You can like people without trusting them.
They/Them pronouns only.

That also means you have 46% of users who are not for the change. If you go with your logic the maybe votes can be added to both sides, which doesn't change the difference at all.

I think the indifferent users shouldn't be added to either side. Otherwise there'll be rage from the side that doesn't receive the votes.

It's not really worth debating whether or not the maybe's will be added to either side, since Tess will make that decision for herself, if they're even added.

Personally, I think the change is good. I've had so many items not fit the old horses and I was never a fan of the '09 horse, the '10 horse was pretty all right, though. I, actually, can't wait to see how this change will change my opinion of the pets, my wishlist may grow quite a bit!

To the people complaining: the maybe can be used for either side, technically. It all depends on what Tess prefers. And, yes, it is good to, at least, change to copy righted ones. It wouldn't make sense to leave one in the middle, would it? I do agree with Astaroth, I use references when I draw, nothing bad about that having happened, though, to keep people quieter, that change is needed.

Okay thanks! I hope they get new lines! But they would be cute either way.

Also it's not like she's getting paid for her stuff, and I don't think the photographer's really care if she was "using the outlines of their horses". If they did care they would have said something earlier to Tess. Plus, I don't think she ever made store horses using her lines so there's no problem there.

I get what you're saying 100%! I really really do.

I think the issue is, equimagine did not say that she used a reference - she claimed everything as her own. I know, when I was in art college pursuing a BA in illustration, it was made blatantly clear that any instance of not giving credit where credit is due could not only result in an automatic failing grade on whatever project you were working on, it also meant expulsion from the class itself - and perhaps, if the instances were repeated, expulsion from the college entirely.

Accidents happen. People can be forgetful. I don't think it was done intentionally either. But I know for a fact that not giving credit when credit is due has serious consequences. As an artist, the whole situation makes me twitchy. ;__; I have flashbacks to all of the talks and lectures we were given about how plagairism is a serious offense. And I remember the classmates who were expelled from courses for doing exactly what equimagine did, even if it was unintentional.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... It sort of is a big deal. *_*

Why do people keep assuming that the results of the poll don't actually matter and that the project is going to be done regardless?

Because it probably is.

If that was the case, what is the point of a poll? Why didn't Tess just tell us in advance "In the future, we are going through with this project"?

Akele...exactly!!! There are a few of Malk's pets that I also saw the same line-art for on other sites and those had the artist's name(s) on them. I'm not sure if she gave credit to the creator, but it wasn't in this instance. I had once seen Tess mention that under no circumstances are copy-written pieces allowed on this site or used. With that said, I'm glad that changes will be made and hope that this bit isn't repeated in the foreseen future.

Malk had her own site initially, I think that's where you might have been seeing her lines reduplicated.
