And why is that? I thought Art Theft was SO important, so why would they delete topics about it instead of answering them and providing a solution?
to cover it up.
they just finally decided to fix the problem instead of avoiding it.
my question to you is, why do you like to argue with everyone on the threaD?

that's kind of why everyone is upset.
Honestly if you're moral compass sees nothing wrong with stealing someone else's work and efforts I have absolutely zero desire to talk to you.

Maybe this is another one of those "oops we made a mistake, let's do something about it and fix it" scenarios.

That is incredibly false.
I don't see anything wrong in copying anything. But claiming the copy as your own is obviously wrong.
Tracing those horse photos is like copying a generic love story. Nothing unique or special about it, something that has been done thousands of times before.

Just bringing this up again, because it had somewhat good results last time. If there was something to set the lines apart, like using the arabian lines, would changing the lineart be anymore acceptable?
All this arguing is getting silly, and regardless of what decision is made there are going to be people who are upset with the decision. It's been established that the lines (a good chunk of them, anyways) are traced and that art theft is not acceptable on CS, and many people are willing to disregard this, but is there any sort of compromise that people would be willing to take?
Arguing back and forth isn't getting very far and the poll is more or less deadlocked. Maybe it's time to start looking for solutions rather than resorting to insults and rehashing the same points over and over again.
Ideas, anyone? ^^

I'm not a big fan of the new art. I mean lately, the new horses have had very boring designs, so I just put them in the pound while the old horses were actually worth keeping because I could tell there was much thought on the design. I just feel that the new horses' designs are carelessly thought out. I want variety. I'm sure that others would aggree. If anyone has any comments about my post, please pm me for I can't keep track of forums.
All of the horses AREN'T the same, though. We have so many different horse lines already that losing some still leaves a lot of variety. I can think of at least a dozen different equine linearts that exist on this site right now (equi's six, yul's two, malk's draft and sleipnir, tess' horses, nick's horses). And as for not liking the new designs-- this project just puts the old designs on new lines. It'll be the same designs you know and love, more or less. C:
I dont want the designs on new lines I hate the new lines.

However, with the ETP, we have artists willing and ready to convert over all of the old designs to new linearts, something which probably wasn't available before. And we're also finally allowed to discuss the issues with the lineart on CS.
And, as Atwood mentioned, the Advent rerelease means these dubious linearts are "active" again.
So it's really the perfect opportunity to fix things! c:
YES BUT, This is three years LATER. We have had re-releases in the past so..WHY NOW?

Its not some kind of accident or mistake if you knew about it for a LONG time.

Atwood wrote:I suspect the Advent rerelease is one reason for it - previously, the copied linearts were not in active use, as there were no new adoptables being released on them, but for the rerelease those foals would be coming out again as new adopts, thus becoming 'active' despite being old designs. Replacing them means we don't have those lines being rereleased.
Thank you for clarifying the reason for the sudden importance ^_^
I now think that it makes sense for this have to been recently brought up again, since new designs were recently released on the art that was traced.
Though I do think that traced art needs to be replaced, regardless of if it has been recently released again or not, and I think it would still be an issue even if there were no rereleases using the lines.

The staff are human, and made a very human mistake in stifling all talk that could be "treasonous" against CS.
Do not use the inactivity of those in power on issues as a way to make those issues seem unimportant.
