Re: Equine Transformation Project - REMEMBER TO VOTE!

My point is that she admitted to her mistake and she payed for it by leaving CS, so what is the point of bringing it back up? To shame her further? I just think it annoying that people are so quick so judge her and talk about her like she is a horrid person. I actually saw a CS staff member say earlier that her feelings don't matter anymore! How would that make you feel if you were the one being talked about? Yes, she made a mistake and a large one but why can we not just let it go? This is what drives me INSANE about people on CS, they will say anything! Please at least TRY to pit yourself on their shoes before saying anything bad about her or her art I dont care what you saw today on this thread but I have seen people bash her and her art for what she did and people have even gone as far as to call her a disgrace, something which hurts me deeply and I did not even know her. I cannot even begin to imagine what she would be feeling if she saw even a fraction of the things that were posted about her today by simply rude and cruel people. Have you all NEVER heard of the phrase forgive and forget? I know she did something wrong but she still deserves to be forgiven.

I'll end my rant now.

Okay, consider that we don't want to personally target her. Actually, I never talked to or knew her, like most of us here, so I cannot judge her character.
We looked at her art and determined SOME of it to be traced. That's a fact, at least for the foal line art. Several staff members agree to tracing allegations. Her actions after this cannot be taken into account when it comes to copyright.
If I burn your house down, apologizing isn't going to fix it. The only real way to fix it is to raze the structure to the ground and rebuild it, if you catch my drift.

Admitting to something doesn't make it right, you must correct yourself with change to truly move on.

She admitted to it, yes, but that's only half of the battle. Again, to move on, you must do something about the mistake, not let it sit there and wait for it to correct itself. We can let it go when we let her lines go, because until we get new ones, we're holding on to her mistake. And if we hold on, it'll never go away, will it? We can't keep a mistake in the system and move on, it doesn't work like that.
I'm not going to start on the art bit, because I have seen very few people bashing her here. You're being one of those members that will "say anything", because you're exaggerating to put the blame on those of us who vote yes.

And we aren't judging her - we aren't bashing or hating on her, but we do want her lines removed because she traced them. Is it wrong of her to do that? Yes. But was it a mistake? Sure. But just because she admitted to it and just because she didn't do it maliciously doesn't give a reason to keep the old lines. So far the only logical reason for keeping them is for nostalgia or because they're "prettier".

And forgive and forget doesn't apply to crimes. Besides, the only way to forget is to move on from these lines, or in other words, remove them.

Well said. I was going to say something along the same lines, but that about sums it up.

I for one never bad mouthed her in any way. Yes, what she did was a genuine mistake, and she needs to be forgiven by those who are excessively up in arms about it.
But the mistake STILL NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

We can't simply 'forget it', because a crime was committed. A legitimate crime of art theft. Whether it was intentional or not, it is still there, and it needs to be addressed as soon as possible, preferably years ago. I'm quite shocked this mistake wasn't fully taken care of when it was discovered.

I really do like the old ones. I voted no, because I'd hate to see them go. I was puzzled when I first joined, however, at how many different horse lines there were. :P But they have a certain cheerful quality, or personality, that Yulynh's. I think hers have a more realistic feel to them, and I'd say I much prefer Equimagine's designs in her style than the re-drawings, mostly because it's sentimental.

I would hate to see them go as I have already stated, so if we do transform them, could we at least have an archive, so we could see what the old ones used to look like?

I also do agree with ~TGenie~. :D
EDIT: moonsong is correct too. (Post below me) I will be sad if they go, but if it's best for CS...

We'll let it go as soon as it stops affecting us- as soon as the art gets removed.

Were I in her shoes I would demand my stolen work be removed and apologize to the people my action had negatively impacted immediately.

Umm, it never did effect us. Nobody's come and accused CS and most people didn't even know about it until now. If it affected us, Tess would have already done it. People say that CS might get sued or shut down, but then again, nobody's even threatened that.

Just because the original photographers haven't demanded they be taken down doesn't mean it's morally ok, or that artists on here aren't bothered by it.

It does seem very silly that CS, which has strict rules about tracing and such and upholds such artistic integrity among its members, to be using a traced lineart that we know is traced.

Actually, a user posted earlier that they knew two people that had/were going to file a complaint with the DMC or something (I wasn't paying too close attention), which will affect CS.

Just the threat of CS's legal endangerment affects every user on the site.
