I'm sorry if I used hyperbole's to make it sound like EVERYTHING was traced, but still. I still think that even one set of lines traced are too many. :/

Also PHOTOGRAPHY IS A FORM OF ART AND COPYING FROM IT IS STILL BAD

This. So. Much.

As a photographer my self, I would be furious if somebody traced my photos without my permission.

Also, I'm hoping they'll finish the unicorn lineart soon. I don't want them to rush it, though.

I sure don't consider the pictures I've taken as art. They're simply pictures of my cat, something anybody could do with their phones nowadays.

There're different kinds of photos, those simply taken for the sake of memories and then there's actual art. I wouldn't consider those horse pictures art, but hey I'm just a nobody.

No no no no. Not "anyone" can take good photos. I've spent hours taking photos and ended up happy with none of them. Do you know what aperture is? Shutter speed? White balance? F-stops?

Yes, but evidence supports them being traced. If they're able to fit that well, it means they were copied. (At least, legally it's like that.) If she used them for reference, it'd be one thing, but she didn't. She literally drew the picture (or traced, whichever) but even if you drew it by hand/mouse you wouldn't be able to fit them together that well.

I understand they were traced. I got that from the get go. I don't know.. I have mixed feeling about everything. Art theft is wrong. And I don't like the confusion between three different horses.. but I do love the first equi ponies. It would be hard to lose them.

Anyway, if line tracing was the big issue, the artists would've either already changed the affected pets or just changed all of them.
I'm tired of hearing almost every argument in support of the change sounding like "equimagine traced so we should switch to yulynh's lines because art theft is bad."
Yes, art theft is bad, but it isn't the main reason for this poll, and it shouldn't be the only reason why people argue to vote "yes." Also, not all of equimagine's lines have been proven traced.

Not trying to offend anyone, but it's just my opinion.

Art theft is also against CS' rules. By not changing the lines, they're violating their own rules and making it harder for art theft to be taken seriously on the site. So yes, this does have quite a bit to do with art theft. It may not be the main reason, but it's very important to the argument and everyone voting in the poll should be made aware of it. While not all of her work has been proven to be traced, several pictures have and the others look very suspicious.
Uniformity is also important, but people have spent so much time arguing the art theft part because it is a much more controversial topic than just having all the items match.

There are drawings out there that some of us wouldn't consider art either, but be that as it may, the rights to that image belongs to the person who snapped the photo or drew the picture. Even if the source material was taken from a photographer or artist who was only a beginner or a hobbyist, that doesn't make it okay.

@ a post on a different page
Muggafinn, please let them just have their opinion without preaching to them. Their post was pretty mediocre and they didn't even need to be corrected since they weren't really making a big point...

Why is this even being put up to vote anyways? Sure, it's understandable if they were just saying that they were going to change the lines, but it's obvious that they're going to go ahead with it anyway. They've already started with a few! And as many people have said, we can't have stolen art on OUR website. I mean, sure, it was a mistake - everyone makes mistakes, but it clearly says in the rules that you can't trace/heavily reference art, and we all know what would happen if you did that yourself and uploaded it to Oekaki (a ban I believe), so I don't see why a previous ARTIST for CS should get away with it to be honest.

To sum everything up, I think the poll should just be closed. It's a firm yes and that's final in my opinion, even though I adore the Equimagine lines :c It's a shame that either way, people are going to be disappointed.

Except it really does matter, because its art theft, something CS claims to be very against.
Uniformity is good to, and I'm all for it, but tracing is an important argument to bring up because people keep saying its not that big a deal, or that since not all of its traced its fine.

Its not fine, its a huge elephant in the room, its a huge problem, and if we just changed the lines, then the chances of the little red x's being left because the photographers found out goes away.

Its not the only reason to vote yes, there is also uniformity, better lines, better graphics, there are a lot of reasons, but we have to stop acting like art theft doesn't matter when it does.

The law says it does, and it really does. I'm not trying to be rude, but its something that we can't ignore.
