Since a lot of people seem to be much more open to the change if the equi horses have something to set them apart, I'm curious-
For those of you who are opposed to the change, how of much of your descion is based on not wanting the old designs to be on the same lineart as the one we have now. If the equi horses were changed, but the lineart was "special" would that affect your opinion? Or are you opposed to it for other reasons?

I'm just trying to figure out if there's a way to compromise. I think the support for the arabian lines is a good sign. Hopefully there's a way to do away with the traced lines while still pleasing those who were fans of them. ^^

I just love Equi's lines and how the designs fit so well on them, I don't think it should be changed at all because they're lovely the way they are. It has nothing to do with them being the same as the other horses for me. I just think her designs should stay on her lines.

But those lines are stolen and you must know that by this point.
If someone decides to sue all of the stolen art will just poof and we won't even get replacements.

As stated MULTIPLE TIMES in this thread, not all of her lines are stolen, after this I'm not even going to bother responding to you or any other people who insist on repeating that falsehood over and over again. If CS was in any danger of legal trouble from Equi's lines, Tess would not have put it up to vote if they stayed or not, so don't even try using that as an argument because it's simply not true.

Some users say that her lines were traced from photos. equimagine has a longer explanation for how they came about, which in a few words is basically that she referenced for personal use, forgot about it when re-using old personal sketches for CS purposes, and that some connections other users made between photos and her lines were coincidental. Some of her lines closely resemble photographs that she didn't have personal permission to use, which upset many users, and was part of the motivation for retiring her lines in the first place. She maintains that she never intended to use photo-copied linearts for CS and that it was a careless mistake. She did update the lines for a second round but people still mistrusted her and her horses and ponies were not very popular at the time (although apparently have more support these days).

We all know it's traced, you don't have to keep telling us, Muggafin. They should be able to have their opinion without you telling them that it's wrong. I know art theft is wrong, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy how they look.

Are we going to change all pf them to different linearts? Are we going to keep a few, to remember Equimagine by?

Yes, the raritties would be exactly the same. the only thing that would change would be the image.

I feel the new ylu standard LA for horses is more chubby than equi's and the arabians are a good compromise.For ponies, I feel a special LA would be good.


So Yes, I feel if we got a more special LA for them it would be better.

I wonder if the manes could be made longer? Or perhaps the welsh cob lines could be used, if people are that set on a different lineart.

It's more than a reference, "eye trace" though. The pictures look like they were traced, down to the angles and leg lengths on the foal lines. I'm sorry, but I don't see that as a coincidence.

We can't have stolen artwork on here just because it's pretty. :/ I could trace a picture of a dog and it could look amazing, but it's still not the right or legal thing to do. The lines were traced, and they need to be removed. A lot of people could turn away from CS if they know that we are using stolen artwork, and there may even be legal issues. :c The lines are great, but I don't want to see legal issues on CS.

I dislike the idea of using the Arabian lines for the new pets because I feel like it will devalue the store pets. However, I wanted to bring up that there are several variations of Y's lines for different horses and ponies.(See various: X, X, X, X,X) The mane styles have changed for various horses and I honestly don't think they are just going to ignore edits when they change things over. That is if it had edits to the base lines.

As for the designs themselves, it's not really feasible to drag and drop the markings, most of the pets psd's aren't actually around anymore. So it means working from the png. file. Stretching and contracting will change the markings as well.

The more I think about it, the more I lean yes. I was never No, but I was holding out for more info, like on the pps babies. I have a feeling that if they have to change because of the lines, then I will still most likely love them. If not, it's a pixel pet.
