So really, it's a lose/lose situation for those who like the horses that are currently on the Equimagine lines. Not only will the pet's lines be changed, but so will the designs of those pets. Either thing you could have liked them for will likely be lost.

Yes! On the front, even, a design was changed a tiny bit. It went from a more square-ish shape to a smaller little blob. Not only are we losing beautiful lines which some people liked more (including me) and editing CS history, we are even changing the designs!

Also, people use photos all the time in Oekaki. Let's go and change all of their stuff, too, and put it on some newer, fresher lines! It's art-theft! Yes, I know this is not the whole story, but it's part of it. Equi made a problem in the past, but that was years ago. We shouldn't suddenly change it now.

It's against the site rules for someone to reference or copy photographs without permission to do so, and breaking said rule can get you in trouble.
Art theft is not tolerated here. Do not copy/trace/edit/use anybody's pictures without their express permission.

Breaking these rules may result in a warning or ban from CS.

One problem I have with this is that now there are a TON of newbies on the site who dont care either way so they will probably vote in the lineart changes while the rest of us 'oldies' have to sit and watch in horror as CS wipes out all of our good memories as well as the good lines. I really wish that more people that joined a few years ago were still active today.

This again?

Yes, some of those lines are direct traces, you can't deny that. I'm not debating those lines. But most of the others in question are a stretch with the photo references that were given and is debatable what source she may or may not have used. As it was pointed out before, you can find several pictures to match every nearly every drawing. The "Arab" line trace, for example. What about this photo? Or this one? Or this one?

Or oh look, If I twist and turn the pony lines too, the neck, chest, back, the back leg, and part of the belly match up (o look, even part of the tail!)...or even heeeey that head REALLY matches.Even that eye placement! or omg look, that back leg, up to its butt really matches up!
No, I don't play CS anymore. Yes, I play on other sites. No, I will not sell my custom item or pet.

People are being really rude to each other on this thread, and that's not ok.

I voted yes, simply because of the controversy on Equimagine's lines. Even if she didn't trace, which I don't believe, those lines will be tainted with this drama from now on.

Nowhere near as bad as copying hand-drawn art? As a photographer, I'm just gonna try and ignore that.

Wait, wasn't one of our monthly adoptables changed not that long ago, because it was copied from a photograph?

why are you quoting yourself? it's not adding to the discussion, nor is it bringing anything you haven't said before to the table.
i, personally, don't like the old lines, but am undecided since i have no attachment to any of them. i just have a feeling a lot of the them will look awful on the new lines and therefore would be 2x more undesired.

I quoted that post because it got lost in the page change, and I'd actually like it to be seen.

I too don't like the old lines. However, I think some of the designs will look very nice on the new lines.

Ahh, but referencing a photo is a different matter than tracing a photo. Not to mention if someone in oekaki is caught committing art theft, their image is taken down and they are reprimanded. And if I am correct, most everyone who references in oekaki posts a link to their ref, thus giving the original credit.

Why would it be ok to allow admitted tracing on site pets, but not on user art??

I think more people should consider this, I mean, really how many voters weren't aware of that stuff till they read this post? The information given at the start is in itself biased towards the newer art, a much fairer way would've been to give as little info as poss and let everyone get on with it

I agree, is going to be impossible to get perfect replicas because the designs were drawn on a different art.

...? I'm an old member and I'm ecstatic with the prospect of change.
I can't wait!
I'd actually like to start collecting some of the older designs if they're on an updated lineart.
Being an old user doesn't mean I'm against the change. ~_^

I joined in 2008 (two years before you) and support the change, so no, not everyone who's been here for a while is against this.
