Using your argument, I could say that the reason only 52% of users voted "yes" is because a lot of people who would choose that option haven't seen this topic. (...Aperture beat me to it.)

Atromoko wrote:yes that is a very good point, and most would agree with you on that, and i see where your coming from, however its not going to upset people greatly if the lines stay, you have managed to live with them for quite a while, just because the majority think one thing doen't mean its right.

It doesn't mean it's wrong, does it? Opinions aren't wrong nor right.

I'm just gonna say this here. Some people don't even know this topic exists so they might not even vote. They might like the new linearts and wouldn't want the horses to stay so your logic is incredibly flawed and this can be applied to both sides. That statement makes no sense at all, sorry.

It actually does make a lot of sense, there may be people on CS who pay no attention to the forums because of all the drama and bullying, but they may still love the old linearts.

I didn't keep my horses with the old lines because of their designs. I kept them because their lineart is unique and I personally like them more. The new lines are nice, but they just don't do it for me. Keep in mind, realistic doesn't necessarily always mean better.
The fact of the matter is that people will lose their hoards if the Equimagine lines are removed, because that is what made many people want to hoard them in the first place. They worked very hard for their hoards, and once changed, they will have wasted all that time and effort to get them. Sure, they'll be able to get rid of them through trading, but it's not the same. They will have lost many pets they once loved.
Also, I really don't think kakalanks' analogy is that outrageous. It doesn't matter whether or not the species would really ever be changed; its the fact that the design doesn't make the pet. People can and do like certain pets for their lines, and if changed, they likely would not like them as much, if at all.

So, it would make sense that a lot of people who may love the idea of a transformation haven't seen this yet, right?

There will be non-voters on either side of the issue, it's pointless to argue that.

I don't think I have an opinion on this, but I would like to see all of the horses that would be changed into the new lines beforehand. I want a feel for them, and maybe having a few lines switched for a few days on tess's account would make it easier for people to get used to this idea?

And who's to say that there aren't just as many people who don't pay attention to the forums who would love the lineart change?
Due to a series of
very unfortunate
events in my personal life,
I have been - and will continue
to be
- very inactive on CS
and other sites. I still adopt
new pets, keep my pet groups
fairly updated and
partake in events
as best I can;
but I'm not able to
maintain my artshops
or take commissions.
I wish to be back at full speed
some time in the future <3

~TGenie- wrote:It looking not as clear or whatever is just how it is, it should stay that way. How would you like it if you made a pet and then down the road someone changed it because they thought it looked crappy? I know I would hate it. It should stay the way it is, that is all I am saying. And if you look at teh percentages of the voting, yes there is a majority that wants to mix everything up but there is a LOT of people who do not want to change the lines.

No one said it looked crappy. Equi gave her lines and designs to us, as all artists do when they make art for CS. This is not her personal art, this is art she made for CS as a whole. The 'revamp' [if you can even call it that] just took her original intention and made it that much more. It's still the same design.

It is NOT that much more though. It just wont look like an older pet, it will look like some re-release. re-releases dont hold value, people want originals. Even if originals dont look 'classy' at least they are made by the artist who came up with the lines and the designs. Even if she did sign them over or whatever to CS I just dont feel like they have the right to change it all up. And your right I would not call it a revamp, just simply a horrible move.

True, I never said she would. But I think that they should rethink it if there is close to as many people against it as there is for it.

It looks like the older pet, you can even tell it looks the same. The design and idea are the exact same. The other examples too, look exact. Don't you think the artist who made the new pony is going to be a bit insulted by this? These designs will just replace the originals. Many pets have been changed over the years, including the Malk lines. Pets have to be changed to keep up. She will still get credit for her wonderful designs, and people are already discussing making an archive to show the originals. This is Tess' site and ultimately if she wants to change the horse and pony designs onto new line art that is her call. She has every right to do so. Calling it a horrible move is quite strange too, since I think not doing so would be a bit more horrible than not. The lines have already proven to be of compromised quality. By keeping them around we are saying that we condone tracing, which we do not. It sends a mixed message and I do not like this.

Right now there seems to be a fairly large gap, and if you include the maybes there are almost 65% of the site who either want the lineart change or are indifferent. While it would upset the people who don't want to see it changed, the point of majority rules is that you are trying to please the minority. By not doing anything you upset a far greater number of people.

In light of all I have learned about the shadiness of the equi lines, I think I would be rather upset if they weren't changed. Especially since a majority of voters are in favor of it. As I have said before, I have never liked them personally because they feel more simplistic and of a lesser quality than the other pets here, and the only equi's I have on my WL are the Unicorns... (but they get a boon solely because they are Unicorns). I would be absolutely frothing at the mouth if they were given new lines and better quality designs!

Imagine this situation:
The staff put half a year into changing every horse.
Now, they present them.
CS community votes against them.
Half a year successfully wasted.
I think the examples are more than enough, so I do not support your idea^^
