No, because otherwise some art may be forgotten, and it doesn't include such a variety-which is nice.

Just copy this and add in arguments to the side you pick.
That might help people who aren't sure yet?
Feel free to add anything you want! I'd love to see this list grow :)
To copy:

Pro change:
-The lines are traced and therefore should not be on the website.
-The changed examples are much more detailed and have a higher quality.

Con change:
-The old horses have a bigger variety and that shouldn't be destroyed.

- The old horses would no longer be uniquge.
-The items made for older horses would be useless

The items would be converted to fit the new horses.

Tess said the items made for older horses would be re-drawn, though.

May I add some Pro change?

-All horse items would now be usable for all horses
-The uniformity would make groups look more neat
-The old artwork would not be completely lost, it would remain in the archives

To some people, including me, the equimagine horses are worth more due to the lineart being retired. That is another problem with this change.

To the bolded point - not true. Drafts, Malk horses, Tess horses, Nick horses... The items won't be usable on them, and even if they are just 'special' line-arts, they are still horses.
To the underlined point, I highly doubt that. Yes, someone will likely archive them, and they will still be on the Wiki, but they shouldn't be in the archives. It would just been too confusing for new members. Not trying to be rude, just saying that some rewording would make that point sound better. ^-^

For the the other horses: We never had items for them before..? There's only a small handful of those horses anyway, and we never had items for them in the first place. This way the majority of horses can be dressed up.

As an older player, I find this a most welcomed change. I hoard not only the horses (picky about them), but also the ponies and use a lot of their items to dress them up and in their proper groups. I would like to use all of their items on all of them, yet save the oldest equines (Tess horses and new horses like the Nick horses) as best yet fit for other items. I'm all for this much needed change and thank the staff for taking on such a large project.

Valid points, Fuzzeh. Would you be more comfortable if I reworded them this way?

-The horse items would fit 90% of the horses, whereas they used to fit %50
-The old art would not be completely lost, they would most likely be saved either in the CS archive, or in a thread similar to the one where Malk's old images were stored: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=273396

Re: Equine Transformation Project - REMEMBER TO VOTE!

Postby nickjr » Wed Mar 20, 2013 7:04 am

... okay random thoughts came into my mind while reading through every single page that I missed (so time consuming ;A; ):

1) I had been wondering why there was an entire thread and argument over her 2010 pps staff dog being "rushed" and "incomplete" and "put together at the last minute" (to paraphrase); now I know why: she was distrusted to the extent that people started to nitpick at her pets O__o; (saying that there were a few pixels left uncolored, the tail was "awkward", etc--if I remember correctly, another artist had to step in and say that there were a few pixels left uncolored on one of her pets and that the tail [had a lineart edit] was also awkward, but did people care? nooooooo)

If that's offtopic, my apologies (staff can feel free to edit it out; I don't think I'm saying anything bad, especially since I didn't link ot the thread, but I might be wrong ^^; ). I am the worst with transitions DD:

2) To the people who had been wondering if just the traced/questionable lines could be replaced:

Part of the reason why this change was suggested is in the first post: there are just too many main horse linearts.
(note that I did say "part" of the reason, so please don't jump on me and add things related to the tracing incident just because I left it out in this statement DD:
also note that I said "main" horse linearts; Tess's and Malk's horse linearts aren't "main" linearts... well, I suppose you could make an argument for Malk's, but she had her own section of monthly adoptables, right? As in, when you go up and click "Adopt"--there are "Dogs", "Horses/Ponies", "2nd gen", etc.; Malk used to [USED TO] have her own section, didn't she?)

3) I completely agree with this:
'Possum wrote:[snip]

I am seeing sides of people I've been quite civil to downright friendly with in the past that I honestly don't like. I wish this thread would never have been made but the damn horses would have just been changed with a firm "Because I said so!" from Tess and that be that.

As it is, I can not feel the same way about so many people I've heard from on this thread. Every time I see them around the forums from this moment forward, I will have certain comments and statements pop into my mind. It WILL drastically affect my mood towards trading and everything else I'm afraid as it's just the way I am. And this makes me deeply sad. D:

4) For those wondering 'why not just change the items more', I do believe an artist (Solloby, I think) posted that working with items is a terrible, terrible pain, since whoever posted that had made some horse items themselves. It was as if 'the lines are less than a pixel thick'. (For those who don't know what that really means: the smallest brush size on most art programs is 1 pixel, so if you have to redo item lines for any reason... well, it'll be a pain to draw the lines, and it'll also be a pain to color without missing pixels or coloring outside the lines, since the lines will not 'hide' any color. I hope that makes sense.)

5) Can we have a list of words in the first post that we should avoid using? (ignorant, ugly, ridiculous, etc.) I think that would lessen the chance of someone's post either getting deleted or starting an argument. (Most of the arguers I saw were people who had, indeed, read the first post, so I think that it'll help. I could be wrong, though.)

edited twice to add a few words of clarification in the first and second points

Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.
I neither read nor speak between the lines. But I will analyze your language.
