I agree Coal. This is a topic about CHANGING the lines, not if they were traced. Go make a thread about that to your hearts desire.

...Wouldn't a thread saying "Wahh Equi's lines were traced!" Be against the rules as user bashing?

Please explain to me how the fact that CS is currently using Equimagine's stolen work is irrelevant to the discussion of whether or not the lines should be replaced.

this. we're kind of getting a mixed message from the mods here.
hekomi [i do believe it was her, correct me if i'm wrong, the search function not working just makes it a head ache to clarify who said what] said yesterday that it is completely relevant to the discussion as long as we're not fighting about it. but some other mods consider it spam and immediately delete posts mentioning it - so which is it?

Yes, I did mention that. Only posts that are completely irrelevant like the ones above about different artists are deleted. Posts which are inflammatory, causing fights, etc. will also be deleted but we're not removing posts about the credibility of Equi's lines unless they start a huge argument.

Yes, please don't make a thread devoted to that.

The tracing issue is not irrelevant, and we have been letting it be discussed over and over in this topic. It's fine to explain that you are against the change because you see the tracing as no big deal, or that you believe the change must happen because tracing goes against your morals. These are opinions, and this topic is for your opinions. However, overly aggressive debating is unnecessary and will be removed. If someone cannot word their posts respectfully, then they should refrain from posting in this topic. Furthermore, this thread is only for equi's lines, so getting into large discussions over art theft as a whole or over other cases of art theft are off-topic and distract from the main point of this thread. The only posts I have removed today have been ones that were either aggressive or relating to Shima.

I'm sorry if this comes across as rude..but I don't understand that last part. Why does the size of the argument dictate if it stays or not? Just because there are a lot of posts/a lot of people contributing to an argument doesn't necessarily mean it's any less civil than a small argument?

Unless by huge argument you just meant a huge and uncivil argument. If that was the case, sorry :B

ah. i figured as much, but i had previously talked to a mod and was told that the topic in general was considered spam and posts mentioning it were deleted to 'keep the peace', even if they weren't provoking any fights, attacking equimagine, mentioning anything other than the topic, etc.

but anyway, back on topic. but let's just say that this does end in favor of the change, about how long would it take to be put into action? would all the horses be changed at once when they're done, or would they be changed as the artists progress in completing them? just curious.

There's a huge difference between debating something and arguing. There have been a lot of really rude posts here from people who support both sides of the ETP. Calling names, bullying, etc. isn't allowed. It's fine to discuss and have opposing views but you shouldn't be bashing each other with them.

If more serious arguing keeps coming along, I think you guys should lock it and only use it for polling features only...

Ah alright. I tend to think of debate and argue as synonyms which is why I was confused, but I can definitely see how argue can be interpreted as more hostile. Thanks for explaining.

I'd just like to say that this post isn't to start a fight, and it isn't intended to be rude. c:

Frankly, I'm 100% for this change. I don't like equi's lines, and I never have. Yulynh's lines are far more realistic, and because they're not traced, all the lines are consistent and their style actually looks good. Now, if equi's lines weren't traced, I could understand all the fuss, but, they are, and keeping them would be a violation of copyright laws - not to mention that CS would be breaking its own rules.

Art/Image posting Rules: Images which are not allowed on Chicken Smoothie:

Images which were copied, edited, or stolen from another artist. (for more details, keep reading the art rules)

Art/Image posting Rules: Using photo references for your artwork:

If you heavily reference your artwork from a photograph then please give credit by posting a link to the original image. The reference information should be clearly visible above or below your image.

Art/Image posting Rules: Copying/Tracing/Modifying/Claiming ownership of other peoples art/lineart:
If you copy, trace, or edit someone else’s art (without their permission) this is considered a form of art theft.
Don’t pretend to have made art which was actually made by another artist.
Don’t trace or freehand copy another person’s art, unless you have their permission.
Don’t modify or edit another person’s art unless you have their permission.

Art/Image posting Rules: Breaking these rules may result in a warning or ban from CS.
Chicken Smoothie Help: The forum:Chicken Smoothie is largely a community of artists, so we take protection of artists’ copyright very seriously. Our rules apply to all images posted to Chicken Smoothie, including the Oekaki board, in forum signatures, in our creativity board, and elsewhere, so please take the time to read them carefully.

    Chicken Smoothie Help: Site rules:
Tracing over other peoples finished work or lineart to create new lineart/art is not acceptable.
Copying someone elses art in any shape or form is not acceptable. We will be able to tell if you copied someone else’s work to claim as your own.
Modifying other peoples’ work is not acceptable.
Trading or offering art to other Chicken Smoothie members that has been plagiarized in some way is not acceptable.

See those rules? Equi's lines break all of them. And, for a site that "comes down hard" on art theft, it's hardly fair to treat staff any better than users for the sake of a lineart.

Now, tracing aside, I just don't like the lines. They're inconsistent and they've attempted to be stylized by an artist who clearly had little to no grasp on the anatomy and you need to know the rules to be able to bend them when it comes to art.

As a small note: You have my apologies if this seems rude. It wasn't intended to be.
