Also, could people please stop reporting every other post in this thread? The mods are reading it almost constantly, so if something looks like a problem in general (such as off-topic posts) we can catch it ourselves and deal with it, and having the thread lit up like a Christmas tree all the time is just distracting. If it's something like a very offensive post or one linking to an inappropriate site, etc., those are fine to report as usual, but please ease up on all the 'off-topic' reports. ^^;

Which is what a lot of people are not understanding, or acknowledging. Besides, I thought this was a 'yes' or 'no' thing, not a *Blah blah blah RANTING* thread.
Sorry if I am mini-modding...

I think what needs to be kept in mind as well is the opinion people held BEFORE this topic was brought up- because lets face it, most people couldn't give two hoots about equi horses before this topic was opened. Most had very little demand other than mega rares such as the Rainbow mane, the Roadkill PPS and the Buckskin PPS, and many people flat out refused to accept them in trades.
If you tried to trade a Equi horse for a Malk wolf, fox or cat of the same date and rarity, you'd probably get turned down quite a bit.

So I think it would be a bit short sighted to go off just the reactions in this thread- there is going to be quite a bit of knee-jerk reactions on BOTH sides. Give it a week or so, and people will probably calm down a bit and start thinking about it rationally instead of instantly leaping to defend or decry the horses.

(I still want those drafts and new unicorns like burning tho)

Me too. The new drafts are adorable, and I bet the new unicorns will be even more amazing <3

If you vote YES, you get the new draft. If you vote NO, they stick with the old one.

I sincerely hope that Tess ends this chaos very soon. In fact I am praying that she does. The mud slinging and accusations especially earlier today has to stop. If it gets much worse, I know of four members of this household that are quitting. (Not that anyone cares) At this point, I don't care which lineart is used.... both have its good and bad.

I'm just hoping it ends soon that's all.

I only commented on the beginning of this topic to leave my feedback on the subject and my vote, but I think I need to chime in here again.

I have nothing against equi, but the art theft thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I am for the change, but I hoard the Egypt horse litter of equi because of their design (and yeah I like horses but that is besides the point) and never stopped hoarding them. I think that the change is for the better since the designs we saw so far look marvelous on the new lineart and improved in my view. I don’t think I suddenly will stop hoarding them when my hoard pets change, because I have faith in the artists here and their skills. I think the change is for the better of the site. People need to think not about themselves but for the well-being of chickensmoothie and that the site does not get in trouble.

That's one of the main reasons I'm on the 'yes' side as well- not only would there be that constant worry of the site getting slapped with a DCMA complaint and having to pull the lines regardless, but I think CS would loose a little something in my eyes if it allowed personal feelings to get in the way of what is right. I admit, I WILL be sad to see the shelties go- they really are far too adorable, and I do love mine- but there's just no guarantee that they are original art work when we've seen how much of the other work has been traced.
It's quite possible (and rather sad) that we simply haven't found the traced picture yet, and we may never find it.
I think by this point, with some of the original photographers having been contacted, we can't just bury our heads and ignore the problem until it goes away. It won't, until something is done about it.

(and I also just really want to see the kingfishers in amazing new arts ahlsaffd)

Aw, I don't think you were minimodding <3 Your list of opinion summaries is interesting, too - it does seem like most views come down to one or two of those points. I'm not sure if you caught my post about the trade values earlier, but another point that's come up pretty often on the 'No' side is that some worry the value/demand on the horses will drop if they're no longer on the retired lines. :3

XD Thanks, I'll try to keep it to a minimum though. I don't want to get on anyone's nerves D:
Ah, I forgot about that. I just thought since the thread was for opinions anyway might as well keep track of the reasons people were for or against the change. As I'm on the yes side of the vote it was kind of interesting to me to see reasons why others didn't want the change n_n;
when first i appear i seem mysterious
but when explained i'm nothing serious

The change for most people is nerve raking because it would change a lot of their pets and so many people dont like the new horse lineart because it is way too common. I have to admit I now vote yes because I dont want to lose my favorite pets
