I do agree that having different horses is better than having CS shut down, but I'm not going to support the change unless we find out for sure that the copying thing is going to put CS in danger. If CS would not be in danger, I would want the horses the same, and if CS is in danger, then I would support the change. Until we know for sure, I'm still saying no to the change.

I'm just going to stick with what I said before. If CS wants to continue to discourage art theft and punishing users for stealing artwork, then it can't make an exception when it comes to adoptables on the main site.
This shouldn't be an argument over which lines you prefer or which look better. It shouldn't matter whether or not the photographers are okay with their images being used.
CS claims to be against art theft, and the equi lines are clearly stolen. If the site can make exceptions for its staff, then they're in no position to punish others for stealing.

They've swept the tracings under the rug for the past few years, and now that its finally been acknowledged I really hope this can be properly dealt with.

If you like the old lines that's perfectly fine! Just please recognize that changing the lines comes down to a lot more than just looks.

I honestly don't think different/older lines will become rarer or something as someone suggested, horses/ponies were never that popular, specially back then. Special lines like Tess horses and Malk horses never had a category of their own and were released occasionally, so I agree about keeping them as they are.

What about zebras though? Aren't those lines by equimagine too?

Luliiii, how could you! xD

Zebras and unicorns will have separate new art. They did mention it in the first post, but it's a bit buried under everything else. I believe Hekomi was going to ask if we could see the new art for horses/unicorns/donkeys though?

The fact that they're traced at all should be enough reason to redo them. CS has a very strict policy on art theft, and as has been pointed out before if it were anybody else, the lines would have been replaced or deleted a long time ago. Just because Equi was a staff member doesn't except her from these rules, and I'm glad to see that the issue is finally being addressed.

I'd think there would be, or at the very least they would still be up on the Chicken Smoothie Wiki, so you could always look there if you wanted too :)

Yep. The whole list is there. I'm stilling willing to compile a whole list for the forums if people want. I have the time.

So, I asked an admin on another site that has a similar system with their online currency(it's a larger/more popular site, but the theory is the same) and they agreed with me that CS is not liable as C$ purchases are [IRL currency] for C$. after that purchase, whatever we do with the cash is not the responsibility of the site admins(legally, obviously they will get involved if site rules are violated).

Obviously not all that helpful or conclusive(sorry, I don't feel comfortable sharing the full conversation publicly without his permission), but I'd suggest that Tess/Nick contact a lawyer even if it's just for clarification of their legal position <3

I don't think C$ are an issue though as we never purchased Equi lineart with C$ currency.
If you check the archive, the only horses ever ever sold in the store were Yulynh linearts c:

Coming on now! I thought they only mentioned unicorns and donkeys though? I really like the new versions of all the examples posted and if there's any doubt of tracing, I think the lines should be replaced asap. I'm with wibeke here, if CS is so strongly against art theft, then it should have zero tolerance, no matter whether money was made out of old lines or not.

I voted yes simply because of the tracing issue. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

This is the first time I've heard about this, and it's really not okay. Tracing is theft. All traced content should be removed from the site...aka, designs should be switched to the new lines.

It shouldn't come down to "well, I prefer the old lines and I don't like the new ones whine whine whine"...the fact is that while you may prefer the old lines, they are TRACED from PHOTOS. Everyone saying "the value of -insert apparent special horse here- will drop so much if there is a change!"...yeah? So what? Is potentially losing some value of these few pets really going to be that bad? How do you know the value won't shoot up? Maybe they'll be desired even more on the new lines? I just don't see how the 6 or so horses everyone seems to love are causing such a fuss.

It's not like these horses are getting removed, they're just being changed. Okay.

Hmm, I looked at the OP and I can't see mention of zebras now, I'm sure it was there before :[ It might have been a post by Hekomi though, but sadly our posts in this thread don't show in the post history so it's hard to find. Around about page 130 of this thread I think Zebras were being discussed ^^
