Careful with rumors. Unless there is solid evidence to back that up, I would just not even post it. It would create more panic than necessary.

Perhaps not directly profiting, but enough to make me feel... well, a little gross.

ChickenSmoothie is better than that. It's a site that prides itself on artistic integrity and ingenuity. This is upheld in the oekaki and art sections. It seems out of character to let a lineart slide simply because a minority prefer it. Even if it's not enough to stand up in court, I think it's enough that there's a compelling reason to make the change. CS is definitely better than that. It's just a matter of making it clear to the entire world.

It's a new line-art, new textures, new positions of the markings. It's more like trading in an old car for a new one of the same make and model. Some things are similar, but overall it's massively different, and definitely not the same thing you used to have.

You wouldn't be loosing the pet. When Malk changed her wolf lines waaaaaay way back, people didn't suddenly log on one day to find that their wolves had been deleted, or had been taken from them. They still had the same pet, with the same design, just with a lineart revamp.
I'm still just as attached to my fireback wolves now as I was before they had a lineart change :/

Thank you for this post because yes the change in the Malk linearts was enormous. It wasn't put to a vote, it just changed one day. And guess what? People were fine with it. Those who were upset got over it quickly.
(Also, don't post on the thread I linked to, it's been dead since like, 2010.

Oh man, I only vaguely remembered what they looked like back then xD I definitely prefer the new wolves! (I did remember thinking that the front-on change looked awesome with the wolf with the stripes down it's back and belly though xD)

Yeah. No one likes rumors. ene

I don't see why they'd press charges for a horse on a friggin pet site. I'd figure if anything they'd just ask for them to be taken off immediately.

Yes, there are some that are much nicer and cleaner. However, I liked the old horses and the old fish because of the positioning. You can't sit there and tell me that this is totally the same pet and I should just shut up and be happy with it:

Just as with this update, I am happy with the pony change because they look livelier, but not the drafts because it's turned stagnant.

Certain things appeal to certain people. I don't understand how anyone would love the unicorns because they look awkward to me, but sure enough, there's a ton of members on this thread that love the way they look. *shrug*

Believe it or not, having people happy with the way the pet looks affects its trade value. Yes, I'm sure with new lineart, there will be a surge of interest in 09 horse collecting, but it will also put a damper on the pets that were designed with how the lines look in mind. Like the roadkill PPS, and bowtie pony.

If this really is a legal issue, then Tess would just change it and be done with it. Since she hasn't and she's asked us, I'm guessing there's more to it than that.

This. All you're doing when you say it is trying to create panic and making things harder for Tess and Nick. If someone is thinking of doing that, then Tess and/or Nick will deal with it. Until they bring it to the members attention, it's really none of our business. And yes, I cut out the rumor when I quoted.

I additionally don't believe there's any legal thing involved (yes guys I know about the art theft tracing thingy), but we never actually sold any Equi horses in the store so nobody ever actually profited or paid for those lines...so I wouldn't worry really. All I'd worry about is having traced linearts on, but like I said earlier it's not the focus so moving on o3o

Anyway I'm all for new lines. I just really prefer Yulynh's lineart more, and it would make everything so much more organized ;3;
when first i appear i seem mysterious
but when explained i'm nothing serious

I Like the idea, for the horses only though. I really like the older ones, actually, all of them, because it shows the evolution of CS. I think it would be cool if there was something you could go under for settings and check a little box that reads "modernize all horses" so that you can choose back and forth whether you want the old or new ones. I also do like the old linearts better. they re more realistic with the exception of yulyhn lineart horses.

Except that doesn't matter? Actions speak louder than words. There are 191 pages on this thread and we're debating whether or not to remove stolen work from the site. Has ANY OTHER USER ever received such treatment? No. I rest my case.

But the point is it was brought up BEFORE - and seeing as this is a SPECIAL case as it deals with the matters of pets that where given out to NUMEROUS users people would have a right to say weather it stays or go's. Im sure if there where serious violations or trouble CS would have IMMIDENTLY removed or edited the art - obviously most of this issue has been resolved on an earlier note like was said if you had bothered to read into the entire story.

Like to point out that, on arts sites (such as Deviantart), even using a picture as a reference (not tracing but looking off it for the pose/shading) without giving credit can get work removed. Likewise, as wibeke pointed out "ordinary users who try to display/sell traced art on the forums have their threads locked and are warned." Equi shouldn't be getting special treatment.

I love horses and have always thought the equi's art had serious anatomy issues that I couldn't overlook no matter how hard I tried o.o
