Hmm, that's interesting. To be honest, if it was me, I think I'd just let it go? CS isn't making money off them or anything so it seems silly to make an issue of things. Hopefully they'll come by and post their side of things.

But you wouldn't be losing the pet, it would be like taking a still life picture from a different angle, or getting fan art of your sona.
You would be losing the pet, because it would be a completely different pet. It's not like turning the pet to a different angle. It's a new line-art, new textures, new positions of the markings. It's more like trading in an old car for a new one of the same make and model. Some things are similar, but overall it's massively different, and definitely not the same thing you used to have.
But you'd still have the pet. Same design, same ID number, same pet. Just different lines. It'd be improved, given more detail, and basically given a spa treatment to make it look young again.
I still don't see the problem?.... OTL

You wouldn't be loosing the pet. When Malk changed her wolf lines waaaaaay way back, people didn't suddenly log on one day to find that their wolves had been deleted, or had been taken from them. They still had the same pet, with the same design, just with a lineart revamp.
I'm still just as attached to my fireback wolves now as I was before they had a lineart change

I doubt 200+ users are going to vote no and catch up. I also can't wait for this topic to be locked. The new colors look wonderful and the designs are sharper on Yu's lines, I can't wait to see my Indian ponies switched over!
I'm really excited to see how the designs look when they're on the new lines as well! *is really excited about seeing the April 2010 bird horses being redone*
The kingfishers? Yeah, I'm very keen on seeing those ones updated, too. ^^ I like the old ones, but the new horses would probably suit the birdy design even better.

Honest tracing mistake or not, the equimagine lines feel tainted. Wrong. A bit, I dunno... Let's say:- icky.
If that stain could be removed, if it meant the whole of CS would benefit from updating equimagine's old lines, including my beloved Roadkill PPS, I would gladly make that sacrifice.
Even if it means some of my own personal faves might change, I'm glad the staff care enough about the integrity of Chicken Smoothie to put in the time & effort required in updating all those horses & ponies so that CS remains a site in which we can all take pride.

Because I don't think it's an improvement. I
like the old line-arts, mostly because they aren't perfect and polished. I would be completely losing everything I love about them, and thus losing the reasons I love the pet, and thus losing the pet. Sure, I would have something in the same space with the same ID number, but it wouldn't be that pet.

They're still the same designs and still on horses.
It's not like the dogs with rat designs where they changed the breed, they'll still look basically the same. The horses in the example still look basically the same. On different lines, and with a little more detail to match a higher quality, but still basically the same. To call them completely different is like saying that purple and violet are completely 100% different, as opposed to the dogs with rat designs being more comparable to white and black in this example. (Probably an awful example, lol.)

Heya, the name's Allysun!
I'm a pet site addict, casual artist, and IT worker.
I've been slowly working on completing my pet/item collections. Also always seeking more dalmatian spotted pets and August 2012 munchkins! Always open to trades! <3

Actually, CS
is making money off them.
CS is supported by people buying chickendollars. People use these chickendollars to trade - equimagine lineart horses included.
This is aside from the substantial income generated by the advertisements that are on every single page.
It's not terribly much money, mind you - I don't think Tess and Nick are exactly rolling in lucre like Scrooge McDuck - but it's enough to keep CS going. I'd rather not see CS involved in any nastiness or lawsuits.
Additionally, if you would like to contact the photographers yourselves, I posted all the contact information I could find, traced back from the original images. If you search this thread for my posts it should be in there.

Thank you for this post because
yes the change in the Malk linearts was enormous. It wasn't put to a vote, it just changed one day. And guess what? People were fine with it. Those who were upset got over it quickly.
(Also, don't post on the thread I linked to, it's been dead since like, 2010.

I know exactly what you mean. I had such mixed feelings about Equimagine's work after first catching word of this "scandal" back before we got Yulynh. I can't tell you how many hours I sat flicking through my horse collection trying to decide what I wanted to do with them. If I wanted them in my collection at all? If I wanted to trade them off, keep them, delete them... I still feel that twinge every time I look at one. Though I adore the Rainbow Mane and those new Pony lines and that little Buckskin PPS, there's this cloud that hangs over everything about that era of CS horses that can't be erased while the linearts remain.
