That's the problem, though - it's been confirmed (look on the first page) that equi didn't have permission to use those images.

And while Equimagine admitted fault in her talking with Tess, the fact that we're still using lineart of dubious origin is still a pretty valid thing to mention.

I think it's win-win - we get more uniform lineart that new items can be fitted to, and it's also lineart we know is 'kosher' so everyone can stop worrying about the issue.

I don't see why it matters if they had the photographer's permission.

It matters because the photographer's permission was not given.

This is a very obvious case and I'm honestly surprised it's being debated.
If a user was selling adoptables and they were as obviously and proven traced as Equimagine's lines were, they would be immediately removed. The fact we are even having this discussion proves staff gets special treatment when it comes to art theft.

It simply blows it out of proportion.
That is the reason CS no longer uses the lines, and that equi made a second set.
She made a mistake, so she tried to fix it.

I support the replacement of horses that are on the traced lines, just not her other ones.

The wave pony, for example ^^

I'm excited to see the designs incorporated on the new lineart too! C: I'm sure they'll look lovely <3

No. The staff as have been said before are just users whom volunteer to keep CS a healthy and friendly site. Without the "colored" name they're just like the rest of. The name just makes them stand out in a crowd. They do NOT get special treatment. The discussion isn't up for "Because she stole it, take it down" it was a simple - "Should we remove these seeing as there are old copyright issues" yes or no? .-. staff is no different from the rest of us except the fact they help users and have a fancy name (Unless of course your Tess, Nick, or and Assistant Admin - and even then not really Assistant Admins.)

Because it's theft.
Each artist's work(s) are solely theirs, not for other's use unless permission is given to that person or for use of stock (still not to be used for tracing.) It is their own- something they put time and effort into. It is rightfully theirs, especially not to be used for profit.

That's why it matters.

I'm happy we seem to be acknowledging and trying to get past this little smear on the past.

So I say I don't like Equi's lines because they're traced, and then I'm told I'm not allwoed to say that. I say I don't like Equi's lines because I just don't like them, and I'm being mean.

Giving an opinion is not being mean. Equi isn't even HERE because she disabled her account. She in all likelihood does not care about CS anymore. And even if she was, shes an adult and can stand a little critique. I do not like her art. I do not think her lines match up witht he quality of other CS artists. That's an opinion.

As for 'accidentally' tracing, you don't just say 'whoops my hand slipped i accidentally traced this thing' you do it on purpose. She likely did it without malicious intent and may not have even been under the impression that was theft or wrong- but the fact remains it happens. When my sister was 7, she walked out of the store with a pack of candy and we went back in and returned it. She didn't realize it was wrong, but it was and we fixed the problem. Similar action should be taken here.
They/Them pronouns only.

That won't stop people from fussing. You'll just have people who are upset over losing the pets they loved.
