Wow.. you know I've wondered that myself..

I always just assumed that CS had permission to use the linearts as they wish.. being that they are CS artists when they drew them..

Still.. really really good point.. :D

BOT.. I have a sneaky suspicion that Tess is really regreting asking us anything.. and she will likely shut this thing down soon.. LOL We love you Tess.. Thank you for trying.. :P

I honestly do not see the point in only changing a few of the litters/outcomes to the new linearts. If you're going to change them, change them all. Even if people feel like they're going to be worth less, they won't be. Now say, if there are some difficulties changing them, say, the roadkill pps, then yes, that's a valid reason.

People are going to be very angry if it's just the rarest equines that get taken if that photographer ever files a claim. And don't bother saying that the chances of a claim popping up is slim to none, because we shouldn't take a gamble like that to begin with.

Equimagine might have designed them, but all designs published by CS belong to CS and they can use them for whatever reason they see fit, even if it was transferring/improving them with new lines.

It was stated earlier by Tess that equimagine signed over the rights to all her designs and linearts when she left CS, so it's certainly legal to switch them over.

This. I'm voting no because of this and several other points. I would hate for us to go through this every single time our lines change. That's totally uncalled for.

Also a good point. I do however believe this is because the lines are Yulynh's. But on the other hand the designs are equi's so you are right in a way.

One argument that isn't being expressed enough is when Yulynh retires, are we just going to change those to a new lineart too? Yes, the new designs look great on the new horses, but are just going to erase the history each time an artist retires and we need to use a new lineart?

But this makes me think.

If I quit DeviantArt and said "Oh, I'm not going to come here, but leave my art for others to enjoy, so bye!"

Then people can come in and steal my characters designs?

That's how I kinda took it, correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm just sad the Zebras are going to change, I loved their lineart. Was that lineart ever copied off of everything? Or the donkeys? I don't think they should go, Equimagine or not..

Thanks guys, I've read the front page and I know that what ever artist colors it in the name of the line art artist still stays. But isn't it stealing a design If you directly copy a design and past it on something new? I suppose CS does this all the time for events. But still.

Alright, I originally said yes to the transformation, but now I've seen some really good points being made. Changing these horses is like Greek/Roman mythology. At first there were the Greeks, the old and most powerful of the time, then along came to Romans and tore down the Greek empire, basically taking the Greek gods and changing them. If we didn't have the technology we had today, most of the Greek's history would be lost. It's the same with the horses, if we change them, then our history, the history of CS will be changed as well. Imagine how confused the new members would be when the older members would be taking about 'the great horse change' or something like that. There would be no history or anything to dignify that these horses even existed! Besides, the newer horses aren't exactly my favorite of CS pets. I personally like the older design better.

my reptiles (aka my personal pets)
1.1 Uromastyx geyri, 3.1 Uromastyx ornata, 1.0 Uromastyx acanthinurus nigriventris, 2.0 piebald ball pythons, 1.0 puma ball python

i study lizards & bugs and like animals

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

She SIGNED over, meaning she said 'Oh yes, you can use it', She didnt just quit and CS kept using her designs
