IMO Totally invalid.. If CS was in any trouble, Tess would NOT be giving us a choice. There would not be a vote on this. Please stop with the paranoia. She very directly asked us our vote for the sake of uniformity... specifically mentioned.

This. Completely. If this was coming up because there was a risk of us losing the pets or of CS getting sued, then it wouldn't even be coming up. There would be a post telling us they were getting changed because of copyright issues. Tess would not be risking the whole site for no reason.

But what about morals? Even if we don't get "caught", why should we keep an obviously traced lineart on this site? It's just like excusing robbery as long as they don't get caught - obviously not to that magnitude, but just to put it into perspective.

To me it seems changing the lineart would change it's value. Most people see the newer lineart of horses & ponies as common, and the older ones to be more special and most likely more valuable. My opinion, would be to keep the rareslist and R & VR & OMGSR the same, but change the uncommon or common ones to the new style. And with the whole 'copyrighting' issue, I would say unless another person drew it, and they copied it with out permission would be copyright, not based off of a realistic horse.

Err... Did you even read that? Nothing there says traced line-art is fine. It says that the site is not being shut down because of this. This is not coming up because CS is getting sued. It is coming up for uniformity reasons.

This is a matter of opinion obviously. Both are valid. IMO. I do, however, hate to see the attitude.. "thats fine as long as it is not Malks designs." Whatever....

2) "OMG CS is gonna be sued.. the site is shutting down !!!!"
IMO Totally invalid.. If CS was in any trouble, Tess would NOT be giving us a choice. There would not be a vote on this. Please stop with the paranoia. She very directly asked us our vote for the sake of uniformity... specifically mentioned.

3) " I like the old lineart and would normally want to keep it, however, for the sake of the reputation of CS.... and also to avoid any more accusations, I will vote yes to changing it." or " I love the old lineart and things have been quiet regarding the accusations in the last 3-4 years, so why change the history of CS when nothing is requiring us to do so? Just leave them alone." "Changing linearts after we work to get them is wrong."

IMO Both of these are valid points.. and I can certainly see both sides..

My personal opinion is not to change them ... unless there is a theft issue with them. Someone's dumb opinion on some site does not count. Something legit.. and something we (CS users) would not know about.. only Tess and a few others truly know what is going on with the art theft issue. It is and should be a "behind the scenes" issue.

I have confidence Tess will deal with it as she did when we had the issue with the Warrior Cats. I really don't believe she would give us a choice if she believed it was a problem. It was incredibly brave and very nice of her to even give us a choice.... *shock*

Anyways.. after all of this rambling.. It is probably moot. It looks like the yes's are out-weighing the no's.. So all I have left to say is ...

^^^^^Pleeeeeessseee do not change the Donkeys !!!!! ^^^^^
I love that lineart so much.. He looks so annoyed and grumpy .. just the way a donkey should look.

but they've explained why the warrior cats were okay? They actually weren't, but the author was like "I won't make you take them down if you stop calling them warrior cats" Or, that's how I understood it at the time.

You are correct.. The point is that the warrior cats were handled by Tess and whoever else.. WE (CS users) did not have a say in it. That is the point of what I am saying.. She handled it.. SHE worked it out... not us. I believe we should state our opinion on the horses themselves and the uniformity as she asked. If she wanted our opinion on the art theft issue.. she would have said " Hey guys.. what is your opinion regarding the art theft?" but that is not what she did.

I understand people's concern but many are blowing it way out of proportion.. I do not believe that we have enough information on Equie's lineart to decide, anyway. Too many people are arguing whether it is art theft, but that is not the issue here.. I really don't know how else to say it. Take out portions and debate them as you wish.. the point is certainly missed this way..

Ok, I thought I'd point out one point that hasn't come up yet from what I've seen. So, those designs are by equimagine. If lineart is copied or not is irrelevant. You all saw the switched version had Yulynh name pasted on it, while the design is/was by equimagine. So everyone here who's so obsessed with art theft has no problem with this...?

^ Yulynh tag is on the horse/pony lines for other artists, all my horse/pony designs have a Yulynh tag. I don't see how Equimage's designs would be any different?

The Equimage horses and ponies have low trade value. While I doubt the ponies will change much in value, an update would likely increase the value of the horses as there are quite a few Yulynh horse collectors out there. Except the PPSes; they are popular and if changed over will likely decrease in value.

Photographs are artwork too, so whether it was copied from a drawing or a photograph is irrelevant - infringement is infringement.

So what you are saying is photography isn't a valid form of art and you can trace someone's photo and it is perfectly fine? I highly disagree, as a photographer what I take pictures of that picture is my own and can't be replicated, in any form, without my permission. And it may raise the value, as it is they barely have any demand, so it wouldn't be changed much. The only ones on the list are the two PPS and the RBM, there won't be much change.

I believe they will still carry the equimagine label, read the front to make sure.

If you look at all pets, the name listed is crediting the line artist. Otherwise we would have an awful lot of names floating about, given the many people who do designs, guest litters, et cetera. :)
