I was never that fussed over Equimagine's linearts but if they were gone...Id miss them. It wouldn't be the same. It'd be weird without them.

But I can't believe in any way equimagine's designs would be counted as "art theft".
As those above me said before, the poses can be made again. I can have a horse in my back field do the exact same pose and take a photo of it if I wanted.

-snipping out examples because of post length-
See? It's a common horse pose. I found all of these photos of google in a matter of a few minutes. If she didn't use a common horse pose like the one she did it wouldn't be realistic. :3

All of those photos are different. Different manes, tails, leg structure, angles, heads...

Image

This is the exact same mane, tail, leg structure, leg length, angle, head. I really can't understand how anyone can see this and say "horses make the exact same pose as that all the time-- they obviously have the same body structure, all of 'em!"

It's exactly the same. ene

Equimagine admitted herself that it was art theft, though not intended. Though incidental, it was art theft. And that's not what's up for debate, it's whether you want to have the designs changed to the new line arts.

We're talking about WHY we want to have the lines changed or not, which is art theft.

To those who keep reiterating that equimagine's lineart is fine because you could find evidence of tracing IF you searched the internet long enough and compared enough photos, does it mean nothing that equimagine admitted to at least some level of wrongdoing?

Dude if you can't accept the evidence of the lines being traced then I don't really know what to say to you??

Lets put it this way, what would you prefer? CS changing the equi lines, or CS getting sued and possibly shut down because a photographer has found out that one of their pictures was traced and is being used on a for-profit site?

How about you go back and read that bold little part of my post hun? I'm not denying her tracing c:
CS is not in danger of being shut down because if it was there wouldn't be a vote. If it was an issue like that Tess would just fix it.
The adult horse lines don't look traced, it's a common pose, as stated before. -those are the ones that are seen on the site now, and are the ones that would be changed.
I'm fairly sure that tess has checked to see if CS could be shut down because of the lines, she owns the site and I assume she's been responsible enough to check already, and that means it's probably not a major concern.

If the lines are redone, we will have;
- horse lines
- pony lines
- new draft lines
- new unicorn lines
- new donkey lines
- maybe new zebra lines

That's a lot of variety!

I don't really understand this part. If the lines are updated, does this mean they'll use all these new lines every so often, or just to replace the old lines?

The reason they don't use them now is that they're retired- I would assume that when they make new lines, we'd get new pets on the lines every so often. If you have something, why not use it, afterall~?

At least, I hope they would, because I want new unicorns so bad. XD

Even if it perhaps would not stand up in court as copyright infringement, a lot of us would feel much more comfortable if the lines were switched. Equimagine admitted some level of wrongdoing, after all. The desire to not use 'fruit from the tainted tree' is, I think, a pretty good reason to be in favor of the lineart switch. Better to be prudent now than face something truly nasty later. c:

You can go to the archives section and see the lineart, that means we still use it. It's still on CS, and if someone gets an equamagine pet on December 18th then the growing stages will be reused.

If mods had a problem on us discussing about art theft, then they would tell us and delete our posts. They haven't.

We have known about this for a while, but the issue has been buried for a while. This thread just brought it back up.

Lets put it this way, what would you prefer? CS changing the equi lines, or CS getting sued and possibly shut down because a photographer has found out that one of their pictures was traced and is being used on a for-profit site?

Exactly!

This is one of the biggest reasons there should be no vote and the change should be done, or everyone say yes to the change. The above proof of tracing. Yes the first image could have just been referenced, which is different but the others were clearly traced. Tracing and referencing are different things. The first quote has them placed above pictures but neither those are a proper fit, which makes it look nothing like traceing more like heavy referenced. BUT in the proof of old line art (I don't include the first comparision cause not an exact layover) the rest fit perfect. Line for line, the appy foal is the perfect example.

CS can be sued for money. This isn't a joke, they can be sued in a real court for real money because traceing is a form of art theft and the site gets a profit (even if they dont sell the pets this site gets money from users and ads) with the stolen work on here.

Those who say it is history I have noticed weren't even around when the tracing thing came out or when these lines were being adopted out. It is a BIG deal, I am a photographer and an artist. The fact that this is on a site which in my opinion is very strict about thieving rules, it should be changed so we can get a clean start and be free of any chance of getting [censored] down!

There is really no reason the lineart should stay. If there wasn't this traceing thing, maybe yes it would have more debate but with this fact there should be no chance of them staying. There are other reasons for this change, which can be debated. Such as uniformity, item placement, better trade ability, and so forth. But the biggest reason should be that this is stolen lines. CS can be sued, CS is liable. That is a serious matter. May not happen, but it is still a possibility and new lineart would take that possibility of no more site away.
