Grey wolves as a whole are no longer endangered. Some populations are in fact rather numerous, to the point that they can be considered overpopulated. It is these populations that I support the hunting of.

for the record, not all wolves are endangered. gray wolves were removed from the endangered species list a long time ago. certain lesser known species and sub-species (not really familiar with the terminology for wolf families here, correct me if i'm wrong) are, and those are the ones that should not be--and aren't legally being--hunted.

but this is not a point i wish to continue debating. instead of advocating "no wolf hunting", i think this group should be advocating "let's try to help relocate wolves to vacant habitats so that wolf hunting is no longer an issue". that's something we can all get behind, i think.

Just pointing this out from the rules:

1. If you dislike wolves or have something against them, please don't post here. This thread is for wolf-lovers only. :U
welcome to our cave of rock and stone,
this is where we call home,
the mist swirls as night draws in,
together as one, we are kin,

we will not give without a fight,
hide in the shadows, black as night,
every crack, every fold,
we are the tribe of forgotten worlds.

was beat to it, buuut,
grey wolves aren't endangered.

wolves are also overpopulated in many areas, in places such as canada they often go throw harsh winter starvations because they are overpopulated.

[lost the other two articles i had ugh]

the truth is, in many places where wolves were 'reintroduced', they are not the original kind of wolves that were there in the first place. and this can also cause severe overpopulation and prey shortage problems.
hunting wolves is necessary to reduce overpopulation and actually benefits them. animal don't become endangered due to ethical hunters, it's almost always due to poaching. hunting and poaching are two completely different things.

i do have to agree with oddi here, though. why can't we just agree to disagree?

also, whoever said they have something against wolves here? that's rather rude of you to assume we have something against wolves just because we disagree with you.

I never said you did have something against wolves, I was pointing it out. It's just I'm truly against hunting of any sort, my whole family is, especially me and my dad (we're vegetarians) I almost cried when I saw hunters in the field next to my house and they were just hunting pheasants. I'm not trying to rude but I'm on my own side against hunting, even if the species is overpopulated because humans are too, why not just kill me for nothing?

okay if you think hunters just kill animals for nothing, you have no idea what hunters actually do. my grandparents and uncles all hunt, and they eat the meat of whatever they kill. they don't waste any meat, and they leave what they don't use for scavengers. hunters normally have a lot of respect for the animals they take. it's poachers who have no respect for the animals or the law. please take that into consideration.

like oddi said, whether or not humans are overpopulated is kind of irrelevant. it's obvious that killing a human will never be legal, and even if we are overpopulated, that doesn't mean we should make the wolves suffer for such a petty reason we obviously can't fix.
and i understand that, it's fine for you to be against hunting! just as it is fine for others to hunt, we can all agree to disagree, yes?
but i have to agree with oddi here, hunting isn't really 'just killing an animal'. people say wolves are misunderstood, but honestly, if anything we hunters are haha
