I'm just trying to point out how easily things can look traced.
Some of equi's lines are ovb's traced, but I don't think these ones are.
and they're the ones that would be changed. Nobody see the newborn lineart much anymore anyways.

I for one think that the issue of the traced lines is one of the biggest reasons CS needs to move forward with Yul's fresh lines. Equi provided us with many, many wonderful designs but the fact that her lines look like they're traced poses a moral and ethical dilemma for me. I think that by switching her designs [which are her own work and deserve to be preserved] onto a more uniform as well as honest lineart would be a very smart move for CS. While many of you may be opposed to losing Equi as a part of our history, we won't. We have her beautiful designs to stay around which will just be moved to a lineart which doesn't make many of the members feel ill at ease and possibly put the staff in a strange situation.

This overlay actually proves Hekomi's point that Yulynh's horse is walking. Look how the leg positions are differing between the two images.

Some people might take it a little more seriously coming from a mod.
I for one, think that keeping the lines could jeopardize the site as well as cause issues in the future.

Yul's horse doesn't share any resemblance with the image linked there. Whether or not Yulynh's horses are traced isn't really an issue on the table right now since they're not traced [the horse is in a different gait. it would be like saying a man running is traced from a man walking].

^ Yulyhn's horse is beside the point - the overlay is to show how something that's not traced can be made to look traced with an overlay of a similar pose. :3 The grey horse shown in the blog as the 'trace' for the adult horse lines is almost certainly not a photo that was used for those particular lines, if any even were. I've seen at least five different photos claimed to be 'traced' for those equi adult horse lines, and none of them fits much better than the grey horse does.

I think the debate about whether it is art theft, whether it is intentional, etc. is a bit moot. Like I said, we don't need to start a witch hunt! We don't need to be rude, we don't need to slander equimagine. However, CS is a business, and what's going on right now is bad business practice.

The fact that things line up SO PERFECTLY with the foal lineart is cause to worry. It makes CS 'look bad'.

And, as I said before, I think that it's a compelling reason to change the lineart.

I'm not talking about the whole issue of art theft. Tess and equimagine talked that out, and Tess was satisfied with the explanation. It's not this thread's purpose to go after equimagine in any way. However, the question of the lineart being "non-kosher" is very relevant to the debate about whether or not to switch.

Here are smaller versions of all the comparisons, btw. These are just very simple overlays. Anyone should feel free to make their own. I will include the links to originals as well.

I understand perfectly how this probably happened, but I think with the foal lineart it does become a real problem, and I think that with the other things in favor of the switch, the choice to vote for the change is quite clear.

Please feel free to make your own comparisons. Mine are literally 5 minutes' work in Photoshop.

Let me reiterate, again, my purpose in posting these is not to bring up art theft charges against equimagine! It is to demonstrate that this 'sketchiness' is a compelling reason to vote in favor of the change! Please don't turn this into a witch hunt against equimagine! She and Tess have sorted that out to their mutual satisfaction. This is only about how these more-than-coincidences are good reasons to change the lineart so that we may all enjoy our horses with clear consciences.

We have a chance to move forward with lineart that not only will make the site more unified, but lineart that is completely free of any sort of questionable past. I think that's a great thing.
