tracing and making a few changes is still tracing, and that pictures was undeniably traced. not only does it line up perfectly with the original image, but also there are obvious inconsistencies in equi's art which strongly suggests tracing.
i agree with harpalyce here - it's not that we're trying to demonize equi or anything, just that this is a serious issue and denying it isn't helping at all.
i also have to agree with kida about the issue being 'solved', i don't see how anything was solves at all.

Wow, like.
I was going to come along and post my opinion on the matter.
But I'd rather not get flamed or harassed for it.
All I'm going to say is this: you all need to really think about the entire situation. Is it better to have lineart that was proven to be traced on the site [
x](which gives CS like 6 billion different horse linearts), or is it better to have completely original lineart that shows CS's uniqueness and originality? Sure, you may like the older lineart more than the newer lineart, but is it better for the site overall?
CS doesn't put up with art theft/tracing/etc, so why should an artist be allowed to do it and users not be allowed to? Moves like that imply that staff members are more superior than users and deserve better treatment, which shouldn't be promoted anywhere.

It's still copying. A few differences doesn't take away from the fact that a drawing is traced/copied.

1. If the lineart changes, does the rarity change?
I have an equimagine horse for a contest prize, and nothing that matches the date and year, that's all.
2. Will the equimagine fitting items be converted?
The rarity will not be changed.
The items will be converted.
Won't the rarites spike a bit then drop?

Kida wrote:odin wrote:READ THE FIRST POST! THE ISSUE REGARDING THE LINES WAS SOLVED. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT ISSUE. IT IS WHETHER OR NOT YOU WANT THE LINES CHANGED FOR CONFORMITY SAKE.
I do not want them changed. I like the variety. Having them all be exactly the same, would be boring. I love all the different poses of the old horses and ponies. I don't care if some items don't fit the old horses, I love their poses, and designs and IMO they would not look right on the new horses. I, personally, think the old ponies are way more cute than the new ones. I don't want them changed.
The issue regarding the lines was not "solved", the staff is just trying to save face and they're not acknowledging the problem at all (when they should because it's extremely important). Changing the lines most certainly DOES have to do with these issues, I just wish Tess would come out and say it. Instead, posts about it are getting deleted left and right in some sort of attempt to cover it up, I'm guessing? Either way, the problem with tracing is EXTREMELY important to this decision and EVERYONE should realize this. The lines are traced, this is art theft, and they should be changed. This is far more important than having ~variety~ or ~better-looking designs~.
No, like I said if it was an issue, they would have been changed as soon as the issue was brought up. We would not have a poll, they would be changed anyway, long ago, right when we got new lines.

Vincent Van Gogh. Everyone said to him, "You can't be a great painter, you only have one ear." And you know what he said? "I can't hear you."
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

I also have a photo of my horse in a similar pose. However, not everything was the same.
Look at all of the shapes and placements. Look at the legs, the angles. Everything is about dead on. You can't say, "Hey, the nose is a bit different, it must not be traced!" when the entire image speaks otherwise. The nose is strikingly similar anyways.
Everything, even the tail is dead on. Coincidence? I think not.

Gif aside, thank you. I was going to say something like that, but I couldn't put it into words. Agreed 100%.

not necessarily. it is an issue, and the only thing that's really been done is that equimagine and her lines were mysteriously retired with no explanation at all until now, and even now, it's not really an explanation.

No, the images will simply be replaced, the pets will not change.

The horse Yul drew is walking. That image you linked to is a trotting horse. There's a big difference [notice the diagonal sets of legs moving at different paces].

Some people keep saying that the posts having to do with the "elephant in the room" are being deleted like flies drop, but there are still plenty that exist. I think it's just ones that are breaking some other rule, maybe being ruder than necessary, that are being deleted. It might be a good reminder that all of us should calm down a little. I keep seeing tons of allcaps and choice rude words/phrases being used on both sides.

If we don't calm down and start having a more respectful discourse one of the mods or Tess might decide enough's enough and shut down the thread altogether, and then NONE of us gets a voice about it.

I know. c:
I did not supply the linked pictures, I am simply comparing them for ~Spirit~ to see the difference because she thinks they look similar.
