THEY AREN'T EVEN IN THE SAME POSITION.
The back legs are way different, the head is different, the angle is different...the only thing similar is the leg positioning of the front. And, believe it or not, horses DO MAKE THAT POSE WOWWIE.
It's very different to be similar in one part than to be similar throughout the entire image. Also, her lines don't look traced, and if you look through her gallery you will see she is perfectly capable of drawing amazing horses.

Yeah, I was going to say that was totally inaccurate, as well....... They really don't even look similar.....

So, I just checked this out again, and I realized how much more realistic the '09 ponies look than the Yulynh ponies and even Equi's 2010 version. I like the 2009 version a lot more..... I would be really, really sad if Wecky, Raindapple, and Seablow changed to the Yulynh lineart.

They're my favorites.
I was hacked. Not going to remake all my groups and such unless I feel like it. That's a lotta work. Don't bother with trades, everything's a mess.

Many people are like "oh they are not popular so do whatever" But lets just put the shoe on the other foot. Say we wanted to change the canine lines, then would everyone be so chilled out? I don't think so. The horse lines may not be popular but they are beautiful. The old horses have more character, more life to them then the new ones. I would much rather have pages full of old horses and ponies then one single post of new horses. People say 'oh the price for each pet will stay the same' no they really wont, i would pay more for a old horse/pony then a new one.

I'm not trying to be rude or mean, but I am getting irritated that they're starting trouble with lines that deserve no trouble.
They look nothing alike, really. If they were traced, all of those things would be different. And, like I said, look through Yulynh's dA. She has absolutely no reason to trace, her work is amazing. I'd direct you to equi's dA, but she deactivated it.

And maybe the first one isn't dead on, but take a gander at the other 4-5.

People would be more riled over the canine lines because they are the most popular species on CS. We're dealing with two very different sets of lines here, of course the reaction would be different.

Unfortunately it seems a lot of people's reasonable posts have a habit of being deleted. Maybe they're extra tasty to internet monsters, who knows.

But if I'm reading Atwood right and polite, respectful discussion of this as it applies to the topic is ok, let me reiterate a point that I really hope will stick to the thread this time.

I'm not trying to start a witch hunt - that's not what we need. As an artist, I can understand how it happens perfectly: you need some reference, you use it, you get caught up in the moment and forget to credit your source. We all slip up from time to time and that's ok. Is it a mistake? Yes. It does not mean equimagine needs to be greeted with a lynch mob or demonized or slandered. It just means that it's a problem that needs to be corrected.

Even given that these mistakes were done in the best of faith, with the best intentions, it still looks bad. And CS is, ultimately, a business working in a microtransaction format (C$). That means that 'looking bad' is potentially much more serious. CS prides itself on artistic integrity, not only in the 'product' of virtual pets, but in the artistic community that it fosters. And that's one of the things that truly sets CS apart as unique and special among other virtual pet sites!

Unfortunately, that falls apart a bit when we're using lineart like this....

Again, I'm not trying to demonize equimagine or anything like that. I do not think this was done maliciously at all and I do not think any punishment is called for or anything like that. But it's still an issue, and an incredibly compelling reason to switch the lineart.

Changing linearts to something that we know is "kosher" is a very smart business move. I don't think it really needs to be up to the player base at all. Yes, I'm going to miss some of the old equimagine linearts too. But I'm also going to sleep better knowing that CS is free from any danger of being sued for copyright infringement, or simply avoiding people judging the site as a 'bunch of hypocrites'. That's why I am wholeheartedly in favor of this.

Switching vote to yes.

While I absolutely adore Equimagine's lines, and I love what she's given us, I don't want copyright infringement on Chickensmoothie. I decided that if I had a picture I really loved, I wouldn't want a whole website built of it without even telling me that someone traced my artwork.

It's not because I'm scared of Chickensmoothie being "shut down" or if I'm angry about how items don't fit.

It's only respectful for the photographer for us to do the right thing, stop being selfish, and switch the lines. It's the right thing to do. If you've seen the evidence of the traced photos, it's extraordinarily hard to say "Those pictures weren't traced" without lying for the sake of a few pixelly lines.

Also, to the people saying Harpalyce's blog post is "fake", this is the EXACT SAME THING:

Image

You can't say that wasn't traced.

If the wrong people find out it could spell the end of the CS basically.

Changing the lines protects CS.

Proof of what has happened is on Tumblr. no one can deny what has happened.
these images will also cause issues for CS if this isn't dealt with

I agree, I mean, whats more important? CS having less trouble or even ending or changing just te horses? I mean maby it will turn out amazing> I love the new lines! sure I am going to miss the buckskin PPS etc. but the point is I am willing to give that up. It will be hard but you know, if CS was ended than the buckskins dont even excist anymore ;)

READ THE FIRST POST! THE ISSUE REGARDING THE LINES WAS SOLVED. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT ISSUE. IT IS WHETHER OR NOT YOU WANT THE LINES CHANGED FOR CONFORMITY SAKE.

I do not want them changed. I like the variety. Having them all be exactly the same, would be boring. I love all the different poses of the old horses and ponies. I don't care if some items don't fit the old horses, I love their poses, and designs and IMO they would not look right on the new horses. I, personally, think the old ponies are way more cute than the new ones. I don't want them changed.
Vincent Van Gogh. Everyone said to him, "You can't be a great painter, you only have one ear." And you know what he said? "I can't hear you."

OF COURSE A HORSE LOOKS LIKE A HORSE. That's the point. And also those don't look anything like each other.
