Mason rubbed her back. "I never stopped."
"You don't know what I've been going through, or how I've been feeling. You think I don't care that your hadn't talked to your dad in a whole month?! Try almost 14 years knowing you will never talk to or see him again." Chloe said, crying. "And being terrified to even step foot outside making it so that you have to be homeschooled and your boyfriend still goes to school and you don't see him until he gets home and has to do homework." She choked. "Yeah you may get to see your best friend all day, but all she thinks about is her baby, her boyfriend, and her dad." She sobbed. "I'm lonely."

Mya smiled. "Neither did I."
Myles sighed. "Chloe," he started. "I shouldn't have said that, I know you're going through a lot, and I want to help you."

Not many understand the comfort I get when I walk into a bookstore and take a deep breath as I look around. I feel at home; I feel welcome. I don't have to purchase anything. Being surrounded by books fills me with a sense of security.

Mya shrugged. "No. You just did what you thought was best for us. It didn't turn out the way you expected, though. That's all."
Myles sighed. "I didn't say that. I said I know you're going through a lot," he said. "I'm really sorry," he told her, and got out. He opened her door, and knelt by her. "Hey. C'mere."

Mya kissed him. "And I promise. I'll keep you as happy as possible. I'll make you sandwiches, and everything," she teased.
Myles held her. "Shh, I know. I know, Chloe."

Myles went after her, pulling her away from him. "Shh, Chloe. Shh," he said, holding her.
Mya jumped, and looked at Mason. "Are you okay?"

Myles rubbed her back, rocking her back and forth.
Mya nodded. "Okay," she said.
