I love the new draft lines. <3 But this:
longer than forever wrote:★~I haven't been on the site too long, but I have some input...
Personally, I feel kind of torn on this matter, since I love the look of Yulynh's lines. I haven't been on the site long enough to know the artist Equimagine or get attached to her style, but isn't it sort of... well, disrespectful to the memory of the artist to change her pets? Even if she isn't here anymore, even if CS has every right to, that doesn't mean it should... I'm sure there are plenty of people who adore all the lines, not just the PPS lines. Changing them seems like erasing part of the identity of CS, changing its history, and just for the sake of making things appear less "weird"? I don't find the difference in Equimagine's lines any weirder than the difference in the Tess or Malk lines, and I don't really care whether or not those were "meant" to be unique - it's really no different.
Why not just add different versions of items rather than change the pets? There are items that fit several species, so it can be done. It might mean more work for the item designers, but that isn't a reason to change an entire set of pet lines. Items are optional, but if someone loves the pet lines the way they are now, they may not even like the pet anymore once it's changed.
This is sort of what was on my own mind when I saw this announcement. I know that Equimagine doesn't come on very much anymore, but she probably put a lot of work into the lineart - and the pets.. It would be a shame for her to think that we don't value her contribution to CS in the past.
But I would overall be happy with either decision ^^.

I'm no longer an active member of this community, but I'm always looking to commission art of my dog, Pascal the Pomeranian! ^^ PM me if you're interested in drawing him, and we can discuss payment.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES PLEASE!!!!
I absolutely loathe equimagine horses and I'm certain everyone knows why so I don't need ot say it and I absolutely do not feel ashamed to admit it. The updates shown here are beautifully done and I will stop trying to pawn off all my equimagine horses until the update in anticipation of how pretty they will be.
They/Them pronouns only.

I just want to say one more thing:
I will really miss the old linearts. It makes me very sad to see them go. Their smiling, cheerful faces have grown on me, and I treasure the few I have because they are like old friends to me. Why do we need to change? I like it the way it is. They are unique and sweet. It helps us remember the talented artist Equinmagine, and that's how I came to know of her artistry as a new user - her beautiful horses. I like their form, their tail, the way their forelegs are lifted as they run... And I know that not all horse items fit on all the different species, but not all items fit every animal anyway. What about bats, and rabbits? Not many clothes/items fit them anyway. And I know there aren't two different forms of them, but really, it's hard to dress them up. I don't want to go to sleep one night, then wake up the next day and my little darlings are changed. It really makes me sad to see this.
The majority says 'change!', but I like the old horses and ponies. Why can't we leave them the way they are? Or give users options if they want to change their pets? I don't want my little sweethearts to change; they would be like strangers to me.
Thank you for reading this. Sorry if it was too long <3

I agree completely with longer than forever and Cloudsong. It was equimagine's line, and, as much as I don't want to see it changed, if we were to do so we should at least attempt to get permission from equimagine first.

For those questioning Malk lines/Warrior cats etc - no, we have no plans to change those lines. Also it may interest some of you to know the Malk lines have already been replaced (with new Malk versions) once before.
In those instances there are only a few pets for each line type. It doesn't really matter than they're a unique line style because it only affects a small number of pets each. For example, there are something like 10 Tess horses. Who cares if no items fit those? It only affects about 10 pets. We generally don't bother with "item conversions" for the linearts which are less popular or less common, since the chances of someone trying to dress them are pretty low compared to, say, an adult dog.
Equimagine produced ponies and horses monthly for about 2 years. There are several hundred pets involved. Its not comparable to one of the small-run linearts like warrior cats.

Whichever way we wind up going, I don't think I'll mind much~
And as for the people worrying about the Warrior cat lines: if the Tess horses and Malk drafts aren't being updated because they didn't count as regular monthly adopts, I doubt the Warriors will be updated either, since you adopted them just like the Tess horses. They're unique, and I don't doubt they'd stay that way.

I never really liked the Equimagine horse lines. They were
okay, I just didn't like them personally. I was very excited when it was announced Yulynh would be taking over the linearts. But I did see a sort of... antique quality to the old ones. Never the less, I looked through all my old Equimagine horses(which I almost never look at anymore) and realized that they're still there because I like their design. I think they would all look wonderful with the new lines.
However, if it wouldn't be too much work for the staff I think it'd be a good idea to have a setting on our accounts to toggle between the Yulynh/Equimagine horse images. That way people who just love the Equimagine horse lines could still see them. And people like me who don't like them don't have to see them. I mean, I don't love them but I know some people do.

Look at all the people who've posted who are so scared that they'll never see them again. But like Tess said, someone will probably make an archive for them(like the "this months outcomes" thread, guys!) So everyone can see how they used to look!
Also, I agree the roadkill PPS should not be changed.

My only objection to this change is the issue of respect. Equimagine put a lot of work into those lines, and it doesn't seem right to up and change everything. They might no longer be on staff, but it seems wrong to me to completely up and change everything.
Perhaps putting some additional credit on the CS tag on the pet? I'm not sure.
It does seem wrong to me, though, to completely erase all that hard work, and give the original artist no credit. It just seems like it would be completely erasing all the effort, and love, they gave to the site.
Then there's the issue that's being brought up time and time again, of the value of the older look. I like the old linearts for their liveliness, but I also like Yulynh's linearts for their own benefits. Personally, I like the new draft lineart, but I don't think that it should replace the old drafts; perhaps an occasional release of drafts again?
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that a if designs are changed over, credit should be given for the person who originally made the design. Or, perhaps only certain designs could be moved over, and then only for special events. But that's just my two cents.
