Auction Rant Thread

this is kind of like off topic of what has been posted above... sorry but i had to say this

I was participating in an auction with no set end date.... I offered on a dog... while watching the auction for a few days, I saw this person come and complain how the same dog was given to them in a previous auction... as well as a few others up there... Then, when that got sorted out, the auction ended... without any warning... and a checked out the thread and it said the people who sent trades for the pets got them, where in the rules, no where did it say that entries had to send trades... another thing... my offer was winning out of two and the other offer on a different pet was the only one.... the person "totally forgot" about the thread cancelled it... grrrr... That made me really angry. I PM'ed asking about it, they ignored it the first time.... Being polite, I waited a week or two... maybe three... but when their lat online date was consistantly the day it was when I was looking at it, I got annoyed and sent another PM, asking a little more loudly and it was harder to ignore. They PM'ed me back... but i sill wasnt too happy.

Ugh, was bidding on a red rose dog through trades, and offered the runner nearly 40 pets, many of them rares(The rest were Uncommons, all within her rules. >.>) from her WL, and she removes half of them, saying she wants to collect tess horses, wth.

Why have these pets on her WL when she doesn't want them? She had my 3 uncommon tess horses on there, added by herself. The only one I had left was my VR palomino, and I'm sorry, maybe I'm wrong, but I won't trade a VR for a rare(which the rose dogs are)

Wow o_o That hasn't happened to me yet..But did any of you guys see the Sun Jewel auction? It was terrible x__x I went all in, and still lost. But I'm glad I did because I got it from someone else for not even close to what I offered^^

Ohh. I also saw this Wood Wing auction going on. The auto wins are; A Sun Jewel/Moonswirl/Dog-Tag, because supposedly she paid a Non-Tag for it. It's not everyone else's fault you got ripped off. (Everyone that wants the Wood Wing)

Saw that Wood-wing auction. Terrible. I'm still bidding though.

Argh, do people not bother to read rules?

In my auction rules, I clearly put that I did NOT want rats, bunnies, or spiders. And yet atleast 2 of the first bids, had rats in them, hell rats were half of the offer!

I don't care if they're on my WL, if I say I don't want something in a bid, I don't want it in the bid. And I just got an offer of 2 rats for the dragon. I'm half tempted to cancel the whole auction.

I follow the new attention on the auction, checking to make sure I didn't need to bump up my bid and that I didn't loose my first place status. And then I don't check for one day, and come back to see it was traded off to a completely different person. Not even one who was offering on the auction.

The person has every right to do what they want with their pet, and choose whatever offer they want, but I think it's a little rude to have someone wait weeks to see what's going to happen, only to blindside them with a post going, sorry guys, but the pet's been traded away.

I can understand you there, but I'm not going to say I've not done that a few times. My Blue Balloon auction was going on good I guess, then someone came out of the blue and offered a green toxic on it. Of course I'm going to take that offer, I like the toxics very much so, but I did explain to the bidders everything and said multiple times I was sorry ^^;

All of this crap is why I neither run nor participate in auctions any more. I've been strung along or had people offer lousy bids one time too many. I'll just keep my pets and look at them and maybe eventually send them to someone who really wants them or something. I doubt I'll ever run an auction again though.

I'm with you on that one honestly. I've had people sending me trades offer me pets through 'auction' to come and bid. Sorry, but no thank you. If I want a pet badly enough, I'll advertise wanting trades for it or hunt for it myself. *laughs* I've seen things go awry -way- too many times, and been bitten even more. I give more than fair trades half the time, but I won't go crazy for an auction. It almost always ends badly anyhow.

I wish something could be done about people withdrawing from auctions. I had four bids and three of them backed out. How the heck am I supposed to hold an auction, if people bid and then back out? Ugh. I have horrible luck with auctions. And I don't have the patience for people to bid and then leave. I guess I'm done with trying to hold one after this. Not unless the staff chooses to do something about how people back out like that, at least. It'd be nice if they set up like a feature for auctions (like there is trades), instead of people just making threads. It'd be a lot less frustrating for everyone, I think.
