Short Story:
The young male proudly looked out over his land, proudly surveying what he claimed as his. This was his territory, his to look after, his to care for, his to rule. One day his shadow would take over as Captain, but for that to happen, he must find his Shadow. His small Band of one would eventually grow, to be one of the strongest Bands around. No Dia Noctum would ever dare to take them on. Eventually. But for now, he must protecct the land himself, and the animals that inhabit his land.

Short Story:
The young male sat on a cliff, inhaling deeply, with his eyes shut, focusing on his surroundings. He listened to the animals scattering about and smelt the moist dirt in the mid autumns air. He heard steps, something drawing near. Slowly turning his head as to not alarm them he saw a gentle baby Dia Noctum. He smiled as it's mother appeared and took it away. Turning back he looked over the land, watching the happenings of the others. He saw the captain searching about for his shadow. He saw others searching for friends or mates. He saw cubs running around and playing. He saw new fighters training and preparing for battle with the guards. He was a spirit, meaning he couldn't physically be a guard. He had the mentality but his physical strength put him far behind the others so he proudly took the rank of spirit. He had hoped his captains wish to be the strongest band would come true. That way he wouldn't feel so in-superior to the others. But, for now at least, he would play his part in aiding the lands guardians and keeping them all safe.
