Bird
“Birds have wings; they're free; they can fly where they want when they want. They have the kind of mobility many people envy.”
-Roger Tory Peterson-

After buying enough food to last she and her animals for the next few days, Bird wandered the village. The day was still relatively young, and she still had a few coins clinking together in the pouch at her hip, so there was no need for her to get back to work. It was strange to be walking around a village as if she actually belonged. Most of her time was spent travelling from village to village or camping out in the forest, so seeing people who went throughout their mundane lives with the same routine in the same village boggled her mind.
As she turned a corner on one of the narrow cobbled streets, she saw a small chapel ahead, it's small stained-glass windows and old steeple setting it apart from the buildings around it. Bird wasn't really the religious type, but she was the type who didn't pass up an opportunity. She knew that, because today was not a day of worship, the chapel ought to be deserted, and oftentimes there were rather valuable items within. Stealing from churches now, are we, Bird? a quiet voice in the back of her mind said. Of all of the things you've done, You had some sense of morals. What you're thinking of now is atrocious.
Who am I kidding,Bird said, shrugging off the voice. Money is money. It doesn't matter where it came from. "Stay here, Hawk," she muttered to the dog at her heel. Hawk stopped obediently, sitting patiently on the corner of the street and watching her walk forward with a slight whimper. She walked up to the double doors, slipping between them silently. As she walked into the chapel, she noticed that several of the candles were lit, and there was a figure standing near the back of the main room. It looked vaguely familiar to Bird, and her heart sank as she realized who it was. "C-c-cassia?" she stammered, still standing in front of the doors.

"The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege."

Ethan shook his head. "No, today is my day off," he said with a slight frown. While it was nice to have some time to himself, so often he just ended up reading by himself or taking Areo out on a ride. "I'll be on duty tomorrow, but today I"m supposed to be relaxing, or something like that," he said, finishing with a smile and a shrug. Then, with a glint in his eye, he added, "Aren't you supposed to be on duty right now" I was under the impression that you rarely left the Princess' side."
