Ruelle nodded, accepting Kyiera's decision; she understood the burden lying on the alpha all too well. To be responsible for the whole pack's survival was daunting, to say the least. She greeted Chaser as he neared before raising her voice to be heard. "We're moving out! Just call if anything goes wrong!" She waited for Kyiera to take the lead this time as she fell back to join Kris.

Averill nodded vigorously in agreement. "I know! We shouldn't annoy him again," he muttered. As the pack started to move, Averill settled into a comfortable lope, his belly filled but not painfully so. He ran alongside Mirri and Randir, his fur rippling slightly in the breeze.

Kris winced as Ruelle approached; he never felt comfortable with both the alpha and beta. Quickening his pace, he caught up enough that Lyall's tail was almost whipping him in the mouth with every stride. The sun was already rising, but the weather was still cool.

Kyiera waited for the pack to assemble themselves before setting off at an easy lope - it wasn't so fast that they would get tired easily, but it wasn't so slow that they wouldn't get anywhere at all. The sun was just beginning to rise, and she basked in the first few rays of sunlight - this is why she loved the dawn so much - the first rays were always the most gentle, and they coaxed you awake, very much unlike the rays of the noon-day sun, which basically just glared at you until you got annoyed and forced yourself to wake up. She was in front of the pack now, and thus, she kept her senses on high alert.

Randir took an ounce of satisfaction from the fact that he was running alongside Mirri and her brother didn't really seem to mind. "Wonder where the alpha's leading us?" he pondered aloud before sparing a glance towards the back. Ruelle was at the rear, guarding them from the back. Deciding to actually be useful, the brute kept an eye our for any potential danger.

Chaser was pretty much enjoying the fact that he was in front. He wasn't so old that he needed breaks every so often, and he could keep up with the pace, which was a relief. The landscape passed by him in a blur as he set his eyes on the rising sun - he hadn't seen the sunrise in quite a while, and he was sort of happy that he could see it now.

Ruelle looked around as she ran; the land seemed desolate and empty. In the distance, though, there seemed to be a small cloud of dust moving around the rocky plains. Perhaps a herd of deer and a body of water? She didn't dare get her hopes up, but the pack couldn't afford to pass up the chance of water. "Kyiera! Prey and possibly water ahead!" she called, her voice whipping past her in the wind.

Averill glanced sideways at Randir and shrugged. "No idea," he replied, as his paws moved almost automatically. "You think we'll find a new place tonight?" He peered forward doubtfully; the plains were too exposed to live on, and any forests were likely to be occupied by local wolf packs.

Kris' ears pricked at Ruelle's call. He was sure he wasn't the only one feeling the effects of the lack of water. Their previous territory, dotted with small streams and even a sizable river, had spoilt them. He had gotten used to drinking any moment he felt thirsty, and he wasn't coping well to this uncomfortable sensation at all.

She barely heard Ruelle due to the speed at which they were travelling, but fortunately, she did. Her ears flicked around as she heard the words 'prey', 'water' and 'ahead'. A bit puzzled, she narrowed her eyes and basically glared at the scenery until she saw the dust cloud that was probably what Ruelle was talking about. Without changing pace - and ignoring the dryness of her throat - she aimed for said cloud and sped up slightly.

Randir detected the change in pace almost instantly. Why did they have to go faster? However, he knew better than to question the alpha, not when she was in full leader mode. Besides, he was parched - maybe she was leading them to water.

Ruelle wasn't sure the alpha had heard her, but when the pace increased she knew she'd been acknowledged. She lengthened her stride to keep up with the rest of the pack, her eyes narrowed. The faster pace was tiring her rapidly though, and she hoped what she had seen was water.

As they neared the dust cloud Kyiera was heading towards, Averill had began to catch on. Leaping with excitment, he branched off to the side to get a better view. At the same time, though, he'd had enough warning from Chaser previously to know not to make a racket about it. His ears pricked as caught a faint gleam reflecting off the surface a distance away. "It's a lake!" he cheered, throwing caution to the wind.

Somehow, hearing that there was water up ahead was able to make Kris increase his pace further. His legs were burning with the effort, but he managed to keep running, wishing that the water would appear in front of the pack now. He'd never been so thirsty in his life, and the thought of water was only making it worst.

True enough, after a few more moments of running, the pack arrived at a watering hole. Kyiera let out a sigh of relief as she immediately went over to it and began quenching her thirst. Once she was satisfied, she glanced sheepishly back at the pack - apparently, she had forgotten all about them since she was so thirsty. "Um, go ahead?" she said aloud, her embarrassment evident in her tone.

Randir gave a whoop as he dunked himself into the water. He wasn't thirsty, he was downright dry. Nothing a little bath wouldn't fix. Kyiera had given him a look - it was a watering hole after all, but then her look softened when she saw that it was flowing water, not stagnant. Which meant that the dirty water wouldn't stay dirty for too long. Which meant that he could take a bath. Feeling mischievous, he splashed some water in Averill's general direction.

Chaser rolled his eyes at the antics of the pack but settled down and began drinking - he had picked a spot near the 'source' of the watering hole of sorts, so what he was drinking was clean, compared to the one that Randir was frolicking in.

Ruelle let out a low bark of laughter at Randir's antics, but she was too thirsty to play around like him. Looking around for a good spot with clean water, she made her way over to Chaser, who was drinking upstream. Crouching, she drank thirstily for almost a full minute before trotting back over to a spot nearer Randir where she could dip her paws into the water. She sighed happily when the cool water washed over her paws and waded deeper till she was almost paddling in the clear liquid.

"Hey!" Averill shook his head as the droplets of water splattered on his face. With a howl of amusement, he took a flying leap into the water. The cool water washed over his fur, immediately lifting his mood. After gulping a few mouthfuls of water and sating his thirst for the moment, he swam over to Randir, pushing at him playfully with his paws. After a moment, a devious look brightened his eyes. "Hey, we should pull one of the wolves into the water," he hissed, eyeing the pack drinking peacefully onshore.

Kris flopped down on the dusty ground ungracefully at the edge of the watering hole, immediately starting to lap at the water. He crawled into the lake, rolling over in the shallows so all the dust was washed off his coat. When he got out, he looked even leaner than usual with his black pelt dripping wet and flat against his body. He shook vigorously, droplets of water flying everywhere, and sat down with a contented sigh.

What Randir was doing looked quite refreshing, so Kyiera decided to copy her beta and stepped into the shallower end of the watering hole. She couldn't hold back the sigh of content that escaped her once she felt her heated paws getting soothed by the cool water. "Rue," she called out, trying to get the other female's attention. She wanted to make a decision, and she wanted at least one other wolf's opinion on it.

"Let's pull Chaser in," Randir whispered to his 'playmate' before carefully making his way over to the older wolf. Once he was near the shore, he got out and sneaked up behind Chase before giving him a hard shove into the water. "AVERILL MADE ME DO IT!" he yelled before jumping back into the water and paddling to where the younger fighter was.

Chaser spluttered as the water flooded his mouth, but he quickly regained his footing and glared at the two younger 'pups'. "Someone ought to teach you how to act around your elders," he growled before trudging his way back to shore - he didn't like getting wet when he didn't want to - thus the reason why he became so grumpy again. "Pups these days."

Ruelle turned at the sound of Kyiera's voice, paddling through the water with swift strokes and floundering slightly when her paws touched gravel. "What is it?" she asked curiously, stopping a little ways off to shake the water out of her pelt. When that was done, she trotted over to the alpha, lifting her paws high out of the water.

"Randir!" Averill growled mock-furiously, leaping into the deeper water where the hunter was, his eyes bright with excitement. He barely remembered to turn back to call at Chaser insistently, "I'm innocent! I really am!" Upon catching sight of the older brute's disgruntled expression, he doubled over in fits of laughter, accidentally gulping down some water and choking. "This is totally your fault!" he said accusingly to Randir as he swam towards him.

Noticing that his shaking had flicked water on the faes near him, Kris gave a nervous nod of apology, grovelling on the ground for a little before crawling over to the shade of a large tree growing over the lake. He watched Randir and Averill play in the water, half-annoyed and half-longing, so he turned his attention away from them. Accalia and Mirri were speaking quietly to each other, their pelts brushing, and he watched the graceful sweep of Accalia's tail as if mesmerised.
