She uses it to attract her prey, much like deep sea creatures are often covered with bioluminescent areas on their bodies. At night, she will find a nice quiet spot and hold out her paws; waiting and waiting for a unsuspecting moth to flutter by. Once it "sees the light" (no pun intended) it will almost always try to get closer to it: and unknowingly closer to her jaws as well. When it is close enough, she whips forward and begins to munch down on the little guy.

When and why do her leg X markings glow: Her markings glow in blacklight
You have probably seen black lights at amusement parks, science museums and Halloween displays. Black lights may look just like normal fluorescent lamps or incandescent light bulbs, but they do something completely different. Switch one on, and white clothes, teeth and various other things glow in the dark.
For example, if you have a fluorescent poster and shine a black light on it in a dark room, the poster will glow brightly. You may have also seen pieces of paper that look blank in regular light but spell out a glowing message under a black light. Many amusement parks use hand stamps that are invisible until you view them under black light.
In this article, we'll find out exactly what's going on here. We'll also see why black lights make some objects glow but not others, and we'll look at some interesting black light applications.
What Is "Black Light"?
If you turn on a black light bulb in a dark room, what you can see from the bulb is a purplish glow. What you cannot see is the ultraviolet light that the bulb is also producing.
Our eyes can see visible light in a spectrum ranging from red through orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Above violet is ultraviolet light, which we cannot see. How Sunburns and Sun Tans Work discusses ultraviolet light and its effects on our skin. A black light bulb produces UVA light (as opposed to UVB light, which is much more harmful).

When and why do her leg X markings glow: (ex, in the rain because the drops stimulate a glowing hormone) That was completely random. Her leg marking glow during late April to early October, breeding season, in hopes of attracting a mate. This is caused by a hormone that is released in her body that causes the 'X's to glow, much like a ferimone is released for other animals to attract mates. She does not release a ferimone, she only relies on the hormones that cause the 'X's to glow to locate a mate. This is a sort of chemical reaction I guess you could say, be cause the glow grows fainter and fainter till it finally goes out at the end of the breeding season. It does not have a flavor or odor, but it does have very short, course fur in the blue areas. During the rest of the year the markings are matalic-like and glistten in the sun.

Cat Name: Namid: Native American Cheyenne name meaning "star dancer."
When and why do her leg X markings glow: they glow only on the darkest moonless nights as the stars fill the sky and the woodland creatures come out to play. She will join them in their dance and song in celebrating The Creator and she will dance for them. Her glowing markings creating a sort of mini light show that resembles the stars ad constellations that roam above the heavens.
Bid: sending.
