His shoulders grew a little more tense. His tail was set firm as the mare circled him. It was almost like a predator. It brought back memories. Memories the stallion would rather forget. His hide shuddered from them. "Look," he said, in a calmer tone, "nobody has ever,
ever played along with my games before." He scraped the ground gentley with his front left hoof. He didn't trust the mare to go on too much further into his past. He didn't trust many kelpies in the herd for that matter. "You... took me by surprise. That was all." He watched the mare. He knew she was only kidding around, like he was moments before.
The thing about Aladár was that he was so far removed from the other keplies. Ever since he was a two-year-old he had been a loner. He'd been separated from the main herd during a heavy rainstorm. He remembered getting lost in the torrential downpour, unable to see where the other had gone. By the time the rain had cleared, their scent had been washed away with it. He'd lived in his own little world ever since. He only let others in when he felt like it. Now was not really one of those occassions...
