What date did you register as a CS member?: November 26, 2009
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 8306
How many days a week do you usually visit CS?: 7 Days a Week
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?: I spend countless hours on CS, considering what I'm doing. I'm on usually from 2 to 6 hours in a day. I could spend more on here, especially with the responsibility of a job.
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them: I'm a proud member of the Pond Patrol for The Pond.
Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw?: Oh, yes! All the time. I don't always save my work or post it, but I am constantly doodling and messing around on oekaki for fun. It's not my ideal drawing program, but I enjoy using it and I'd love to help other users have fun and use it properly as well. c:
Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there?: Of course! I do so all the time. I check out every board because I love seeing the different variations of style. I'll comment often as well. I'm usually hanging around the Intermediate board (because who doesn't love to see those beautiful pieces of art?) but I'm also often looking at editables, adoptables, and the skecthes/experiements. And I go to beginnger's oekaki frequently aslo. So I guess I don't have a specific favorite, but yes, I'm there. <3
Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS?: I've been on CS a long time and I've felt the occassional feeling of warmth when I can help a newer member. I've gone through years of being guided and admiring our mods and I'd want nothing more, being an elder on CS, than to do the same for new members. I want to give them a hard-working, kind, helpful user for them to admire as they grow and get more into our wonderful site. Not only would I enjoy helping others with oekaki and keeping the boards safe, I'd get to be the user I've always wanted to be and help my favorite website grow even better and bigger.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?: Well, I'm not the best artist, but I do hope that I can help some of the members on the board who are newer to the program. I've been told I'm a good leader, and I know how to use oekaki pretty well (I feel), so I'd love to give it a try. I'm very dedicated, and I take my roles (even at just a small adoptable thread) very seriously. I'm the kind of person who tries to work things out calmly and I never snap at anyone on CS. I use Paint Tool SAI and I'm used to how to use most drawing programs other than that (like gimp, paint.net, sumopaint, and oekaki of course). I'm able to give advice on art and I know how to properly give helpful (not harmful) critique if it was requested. I hope that I could bring my skills to the position if I'm lucky enough to be chosen. I'd try my best to do a fine job and be helpful and kind while helping out the boards and the overall site.

What date did you register as a CS member?: Back in September, 2009
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 9503
How many days a week do you usually visit CS? I visit on a daily basis
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Actively, I probably average around three, but generally more on weekends or when I don't have much work to do. I am always logged in though and check my PMs very often.
Have you moderated on any other forums before? No, sorry
Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw? I use Oekaki very often
Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there? I love looking at the Oekaki! It's very interesting to see other players' improvement over time and their changes in style.
Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS? Although I do enjoy collecting my pets here on CS, I spend a rather large portion of my time on the Oekaki boards as well. Quite often I will open up all of the boards in separate tabs just so I can scroll through and see everyone's new artwork. I often find myself thinking 'Well, this should be moved up to Intermediate,' only to come back a little while later and see that just that has happened. Even though I don't always enter, I also enjoy reviewing the Competitions board and the Adoptable Oekaki. Still, my favorite is the Sketches and Experiments just for the novelty and wonderful sketchiness of many of the posts there. I've reported a few posts where they don't belong, and since I spend a great deal of time there I've caught plenty of misposted color-ins and such. I think I could use my interest in art and my knowledge of CS to benefit the whole CS community rather than just myself. Just having a different colored name can encourage more players to step up and ask me for help when they need it.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position? I have taken several mediation classes in school, participated in Natural Helpers, and have earned awards for 'Leadership,' as well as having taken courses in psychology and sociology, all of which could positively contribute to the CS community if I were in a better position to help. I understand the Oekaki, how the tools work, how to install pen pressure, and how artwork is categorized and I believe that I could truly help the CS community.

1,836.

Usually everyday. :)

Roughly about 5 hours or more, especially on the weekends. (I don't usually keep track of the time that I spend, but I know it's a lot).

Yes, mostly color-ins, but I've done some of my own drawings here and there.

I've always wanted to be more a part of CS, and I like moderating too much not to make it a "Mini-profession".

I am able to handle situations with maturity, especially when it comes to younger children.
Will reasonably overpay for this 2012 Summer Event dog

APPLICATON
  1. What date did you register as a CS member?:
    12 Jun 2009
  2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
    2783
  3. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
    6-7
  4. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
I always check cs when I get on the computer and stay on it for whole day. Of course I do other things
that cs at the same time, but I check back very often. So I spend about 5-12 hours online everyday. Maybe even more if I'm home all day, and have nothing else to do.
  5. Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
I don't know if it counts, but I help the owner of a My Little Pony roleplay club on a Swedish site for animal lovers. It's a pretty small club, because the site is pretty small, but it's very active.
The club is private, so you'd have to join it to see it (and know Swedish to read everything), but it's [here].
  6. Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw?
Yes, very often. I do not always post the things i make though.
I haven't used it a lot recently, but that's just because I lost my tablet pen, hehe.
  7. Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there?
It's the second thing I do when I get on. I absolutely love to see what others have created!
  8. Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS?
It would be a pleasure to be able to help on this site, and make sure that everything is alright on the oekaki boards. I have a lot of time, and considering that the oekaki boards is one of my favorite places to visit on here, I'm sure I could help. ^^
  9. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example have you had any experience in peer mediation? Have you had a ton of experience using the oekaki program?)
I use the oekaki program alot, both for drawing and coloring in. So I have a lot of experience with the program.

Re: Oekaki Moderator Applications NOW OPEN

Postby SSQM » Thu Feb 28, 2013 2:52 am

What date did you register as a CS member?:

I registered on January 29th, 2010.

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):

I have made 2,383 posts to this day, and will of course be posting much more.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?

I try to visit every day. I do for the most part, but sometimes my real life and university homework get in the way. Other than that, I get on very often, multiple times a day.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?

I am normally on and off all day, specifically for an hour or two at a time. There are times at night that I'm on for a good six hours. Even still, I don't sleep very much because of university projects, so I'm awake and still surfing CS in between bouts of homework.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them.

No, I haven't moderated on any other forums.

Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw?

Oh yes. I'm not not the greatest at it, but I can use it fairly decently. I'm going to school for graphic design, so I'm used to these kinds of programs.

Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there?

I spend some time there, but not all of my time. I do like the art posted there, though. I'm open to most anything, too, of course, as long as it follows the rules. I'm an art student and overall art enthusiast, so naturally, I'm near art.

Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS?

Me? Why do I? There are many reasons why I'd like to be an oekaki moderator. Here are a few reasons that I think helps me qualify for the position.

Giving Back

CS has been home to me for over three years. With the family friendly values and the sense of community from the user base, I would like to give back my time and passion to the website that has given me a place to belong.

For "Fun""

I am of the understanding that this oekaki moderator position is a job and that it requires actual work, but I spend so much of my time on CS, that I think it might add to my CS experience. I would be able to enjoy my work, as my work would be linked with play. Have no fear, I am of the ability to be serious.

Seriousness

In the moments that need it, I can be rather formal and quite concise with my wording. This would help me explain what rules were broken, why I'm moving something, etc. in the situations that needed them. I have the ability to take any matter of this caliber and come to a logical solution. This would help me keep my emotions out of my work, so as to keep the level of professionalism to do my job.

Of course, as per the first post of this thread, I am perfectly capable of dealing with anything gory or themes not appropriate for the site.

General Skills

As an art student, I am trained in several types of art, not just my digital art of graphic design. Because of this training, I can recognize art theft pretty accurately, not to mention that I am familiar with the rules here on art theft and overall rules of the oekaki.

________

I know those don't sound like reasons why I'd like to an oekaki moderator, but I think my reasons explain what I would also try to exude if I were selected.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example have you had any experience in peer mediation? Have you had a ton of experience using the oekaki program?)

People Skills

Countless school projects and personal life experience are what help me understand and help people. I can work with people, set aside my differences and work to come to a resolution without "stepping on toes," as it were.

Leadership

I try to be a good role model for all users, a person they can look up to and trust. I run a school club that I founded on my own. This helps me qualify for this position by giving me the necessary experience to show others the right way to do something or to just be there if they need something.

Volunteer Peer Jury

This program you see above, I was in for 6 years of my life, from (US) 7th grade to when I graduated from high school. I volunteered, once a month, with kids my own age. This program gave kids who broke the law with minor offenses a second chance, for this was only for first time offenders. The offense was not added to their record after they turned 18 (the legal age when you become an adult). I was part of the "jury" that would listen to their story and then decide how many community service hours they would do, based on how severe their crime was. They would come back the next month and we'd ask them if they had learned from their mistake. In that month, I could see a change.

This was almost like a peer mediation, but not completely. I do think this is still similar in some ways, for this is why I'm mentioning it.

_______________________________

Thank you for this opportunity to become an oekaki moderator. I'm sure whomever you choose, will be of great help and service to you. Thank you.

APPLICATION

What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 6 months ago, do not apply)
October 18, 2010

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)
3423 posts and counting!

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
I usually visit CS everyday, or at least whenever I can.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
Well, it's usually around four-ish, five-ish, I suppose. I don't time myself, but I'd say it's a pretty good average.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
Nope.

Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw?
It's the only program I use. I find it easiest, and I'm most familiar.

Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there?
All the time! I love looking at the Cs users' creations. It's really fun to just sit back and admire, without the stress of trying to do something yourself. And works as great inspiration, without directly copying of course.

Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS?
Well, I love CS, it's really my place to be. I've got a lot of time on my hands. I might as well use it to help CS grow and expand to be a friendly, spam-free place. c:

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example have you had any experience in peer mediation? Have you had a ton of experience using the oekaki program?)
Well, a little while ago, I had my own run-in. And I got into some art-theft problems. Taking from my own experience, I think I could apply it to this job. Understanding how others feel, and doing my best to put my foot down, without scaring users off this site.

Also, I use the oekaki program a whole lot, I know it like the back of my hand. So in case any CS users have a hard time with the oekaki, I can help.

Good luck everybody!
