What date did you register as a CS member?:
In November of 2011

How many posts have you made in the forum as of right now:
3526

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
Every day of the week unless I am busy which doesn't happen often

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
About 2 - 4 hours or more with breaks in between depending on my free time

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
I was moderating on one basic forum before, but it got closed down due to inactivity of the admin

Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw?
Yes, lots actually, I find it really easy and simple to use and I draw on the oekaki on a regular basis

Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there?
I usually browse the Oekaki regularly anyways just to see the art and see everything people have drawn and whatnot, I kind of find it a habit and i'm naturally drawn to the oekaki boards because I love to see other people's art as well as my own.

Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS?
Well, i'm quite capable of checking the Oekaki boards, and its a common interest for me because Art is my hobby and it has been for most of my life, and i'd love to be able to help out the community and enforce the art rules on this site to keep everything in order, I am on CS a lot of my day, and I usually take an hour or so to look on the Oekaki boards anyways, so it wouldn't be much of a change, and i'd be more than willing to help out with the staff in any way I can possibly do so

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example have you had any experience in peer mediation? Have you had a ton of experience using the oekaki program?) Not sure what this means, but yes I have had more than enough experience using the oekaki and I am experienced and knowledgable about the program, as it is the only one I deem reliable to use for me rather than other drawing tools on other websites. I have been an artist for Cheetah Dragon Adopts, Lanturn Droofs and Marble Cats I am experienced with the oekaki board because I find i'm overly familiar with it and its just something that I have an unmistakable interest in.

What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 6 months ago, do not apply)
I joined Tuesday, March 8th, 2011. To be exact, I joined at 4:24PM.

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)
Excluding this post, I made 15940 posts. Most of them are from roleplays, while some of them are from other thread posts.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
I am usually on 7 days a week. I currently have a photography shoot job that I attend, but I am usually on after 4PM. I do have an email account tied with CS, so when I get a personal message, or a post on a thread, it emails me and my phone goes off, letting me know. So I usually reply to PM messages instantly.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
Well, my work schedule is complicated. I have flights at some times, and some times I have emergency photoshoots. But I still get on. When I am on my computer, I can make large and fancy posts, and the times I can get on my computer are usually from 4PM-9:30PM. And from 7:30AM-4PM, I can go on my phone anytime.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
Actually, I have. Me and my friend made a roleplay website, but it didn't last very long. It is not running anymore, but I still have the link. Here: http://featherpaws.easyrpg.com/index.php

Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw?
Yes, I have. My last drawings were with my mouse. I have a tablet, but it wont work for some reason, and I am currently buying a new one. I find the oekaki very easy and creative, simple.

Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there?
I always go there. I love seeing people's artwork, especially CS pets ones. I like to see what people come up with, ideas, comics, and just..Art! I am currently in a photography program with my job for kids that have cancer, but love art. I help them paint, make sculptures, create oil paintings, and make masks. I love helping them, especially if they have a special need. Anyways, yes, I do go to the oekaki board and browse.

Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS?
I have a few reasons. One, I find that I can be a good "role model" when it comes to art. I like to help people with it, even though that's not what a roleplay moderator is. Just throwing it out there. I always admired the Cs members, mods, and owners here. They seem like great people, caring, and helpful. I would too, like to be one of those people. Not to get the attention that is not needed, but to be able to help those that are stuck with questions, concerns, and comments.
My main priority is to help Tess and Nick with their job as CS owners, by organizing the art boards. they can't do it by themselves, can they? That's another reason I would like to join the mod family.
Another reason, is I love to help out. That's why I joined that art program to help kids. I think helping people on CS is another good job to do. I love to do that, even if it's something small. Like answering a little concern. I also find that deleting or locking topics are a good thing, for people that are under the age of 11, maybe 12, might get disgusted or horrified by the gruesome posts. I think it would be my job to hide those topics from them, to prevent such a thing. They do not deserve to be exposed to art like that, gore, and PG-13 scenes.
Also, I think warning players if they have done something wrong, is another good thing. So they learn not to do it again. It is never a horrible thing if they do something wrong the first time, I think the first time is when someone learns. The second time is a mistake. And the third time is possibly on purpose, or being forgetful of the rules.
Last reason. I think if a member is thinking of 'picking' a fight or a argument with another player, that should never happen. I think I can be good to sort arguments and disagreements between players, since I have major experience with kids. Oh, if you were wondering what the program I was working with, click this link: http://www.livestrong.com/article/12768 ... en-cancer/

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example have you had any experience in peer mediation? Have you had a ton of experience using the oekaki program?)
I have not had a lot of experience with the oekaki program. But I think i've had enough to know the tools, layers, etc. My other skill, (as noted before), is I work with the art program for kids that have cancer. If the website I gave you above does not describe what I work with, it is a therapy that kids have an option to go to, on the weekend. All the kids meet up and describe their cancer stories through art, if they can't describe it through words. We also do art such as; sculptures, oil paint, masks, and watercolor. I personally have throat cancer, so I know what cancer is like, and I know these children's stories. Some of these kids keep their feelings inside them, and create major depression, stress, and self harm to themselves. So I participate in this Livestrong program to help kids cope with their cancer, and relive stress through the wonderful life of art.
Okay, last thing. I am very familiar when it comes to art theft. I always browse deviantart, weheartit, and sumoart. So if someone were to copy off art from a different website, I think I could recognize that easily.

Re: Oekaki Moderator Applications NOW OPEN

Postby faraday » Wed Feb 27, 2013 1:19 pm

NOTE: This is a shared account. The form below is Rainy's application.

What date did you register as a CS member?:
December 18th, 2009

How many posts have you made in the forum:
15,601 (Not including this one!)

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?:
7 days a week, unless I am on vacation where internet access it limited. c:

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?:
On the weekdays I usually spend anywhere from 2-4 hours on here (depending on the amount of homework I have), and on weekends anywhere from 3-5 hours.

Have you moderated on any other forums before?:
No, I have not, although I have "mini-moderated" a few threads on Chicken Smoothie...
The Pond
The Charloo Bowl (I cannot link to it because it may have been deleted, I cannot find it. ^^)

Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw?:
Yes, although I took a break last year and used other drawing programs instead, but I'm starting to use Oekaki again and it's amazing how much I've improved so far, and I can't wait to see how I can improve further!

Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there?:
Yes, I sure do! I usually browse one of the Oekaki forums (Intermediate, and Sketches and Experiments mostly) at least once every day, and I also look at my friend's drawings and the featured drawings.

Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS?:
Art is my passion, specifically digital art. I love looking at it, talking about it, and making it myself. As an artist, I wouldn't want my art to be stolen or abused, and I think it's important to make sure that others do not have their art stolen or abused. I have a strong desire to protect my art, and the art of others. I know the Oekaki Rules and Regulations, and know that I would be able to reinforce them. I know when I see rules being broken or spam being posted, and I use the report button often to make sure whatever the problem is can be removed or resolved. However, this doesn't mean that I want to jump up on every user that does not abide these rules to a T, because I know that everybody makes mistakes and sometimes the only problem is a reference that is not credited.

I adore the fact that Oekaki Moderators are there to protect the artist community of the Oekaki, and that they keep the boards clean so the rest of us can enjoy browsing through the Oekaki without having to worry about coming across art-theft, spam, or profanity. I also want to bring up the art that COPPA'd users make; I have a COPPA'd little sister, and I know every time she submits a drawing for approval she's nearly shaking with anticipation to see it come up on the boards, and I have to say that it would be great to be the one approving the drawing COPPA'd users make, if the art/description is appropriate. I know how much it means to my sister, so that would be something meaningful to me. This job would not be a bother, because it's something I know I would enjoy, even if I'm hassled for it.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?:
I tutor people of my age, so I am able to explain myself in more than one way if the person I am trying to communicate with does not understand the first way I explained myself. This can come in handy if when it comes to communicating my thoughts clearly, which can be a challenge for some, especially when it comes to typing responses on a computer since the other person cannot hear your tone of voice or see your expressions.

Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS?: I don't have much reason to stay here after I've stopped trading and trying to get pets, but I have been spending extra time working on art in the oekaki lately and I think it would be very fun to try and help out around the site to make it easier on the current staff.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?: I think that I'm fairly good at handling conflict and am able to be fair and unbaised in debates and when trying to stop arguments. What date did you register as a CS member?: May 15, 2010

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 7377

How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Seven days a week every week except for the exceedingly rare day or two.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Weekdays: 2-4 hours average. Weekends: 2-7 hours average. Lots of little check-ins throughout the day as well. I am in school, so summer times are a few hours more (3-10 hours daily).

Have you moderated on any other forums before? Not officially, no. I have done the occasional odd-end mod job for a RP or something small, but nothing large and permanent. One topic that I do now have that I moderate is the new Joker army, although I haven't had to moderate anything so far, as well as The Minor Dreamie Centre, which has required some modding, but not much.

Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw? Yes. I have used the board many times and know the functions and tools well. The tablet I currently own is my first and was bought specifically for the main purpose of CS.

Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there? Yes, much time has gone to looking at others' art. Not a ton, but I do spend time looking through the art, my favorite forums being the Intermediate and competition ones.

Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS? I know the rules of the Oekaki boards here and how to work the program well. I'd love to be an oekaki moderator for CS to improve my already increasing level of interacting with people correctly and efficiently, as well as my own art skills. I feel that I can learn a lot from this position, and be well-suited to the jobs that need to be completed. I love CS, and would love to take the time I spend here and put it towards something that I feel I would enjoy and love.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position: My main skill that I could bring to this position would be my people skills. I have been taught in giving speeches and leading debates, and overall know how to talk to people. I know how to act without being rude, even if they are being rude to me, and I know how to calmly settle most arguments. I tutor (unprofessionally), and generally know how people will often act in given situations, and what can cause those situations. I have been a leader in multiple peer mediation groups with succes, and understand how it works and why. Although an amateur artist, I love doing all genres of art and fit in nicely with the art community. I am a hard worker and efficient with time management, and know some simple coding such as how to link back, make pictures transparent, etc. that have some relation to art.

APPLICATION
What date did you register as a CS member?: November 11, 2009
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 3972 (2973 if you include this one)
How many days a week do you usually visit CS? : All Seven
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? :Recently I've been having some real-life issues to take care of, but I usually get in at least 3 hours. However I can spend anywhere from 5-7 hours on a good day.
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them: http://www.brightlights.myadopts.com , Art Wishes, I was also an Archivist-that-helped-with-mod-duties at Idengartz
Have you ever used the CS oekaki to draw?: Yes, I try to draw frequently on the Oekaki. In fact, it's the main drawing program I use.
Do you ever spend much time browsing the oekaki board just to look at the art posted there?: Yes! I actually spend more time doing this then I probably should. Whenever I seem to be out of General Helper things to do, I alway head straight for the Oekaki boards. I really enjoy browsing the Sketches and Experiments board, since I get to see Beginner,Intermediate, and all the interesting works that come in between. It's a daily activity that I look forward to and enjoy.
Why do you want to be an oekaki moderator for CS? : To be truthful I had never really considered the position until quite recently. I was very satisfied with being a General Helper, since I got to do what I loved; helping people to have the best Chicken Smoothie experience possible. However, since the beginning, Oekaki has always been one of my strongest points. Of all the questions I answer, I've always felt most confident in answering the Oekaki troubleshooting questions. I know all the Oekaki rules by heart, have a list of the Oekaki guides, and even have a list of helpful user-made tutorials. I often spend time playing around with different Oekaki tools/brushes/ layers to see what new things I can learn about it.
Ever since becoming a General Helper, I never really thought I would apply for a staff position. I had no intentions of being a Global Mod, and I didn't Role Play enough to be interested in an RP Mod position. However, I now find that I do have specific interest in Oekaki. Although I enjoy the mixed, all-around General Helper questions I get, I feel like I could put in an even greater effort if I only had one board, a board I have great interest in, to focus on. I'm not saying I think that the position of Oekaki Mod would be easier then the General Helper position, I'm fully aware that being an Oekaki Moderator would be much more demanding, attention and time wise. I say only that I would enjoy being able to focus primarily on the Oekaki section of Chicken Smoothie.
I'm am fully aware of the duties and time this position requires, I'm fully prepared to meet all requirements and expectations that come with the position of Oekaki Moderator.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example have you had any experience in peer mediation? Have you had a ton of experience using the oekaki program?): As I stated in my General Helper application, I'm fully trained and certified in Peer Mediation. I work with children who's age range is roughly anywhere from 5 to 16. I work with them to help settle family/life issues, and also to help resolve conflicts with any parties involved (This includes parents and older relatives, so I do have some experience in dealing with those older then me). Recently, a family friend and local therapist has been giving me courses in more experienced Conflict Management. I take 2-3 "classes" a week, and have been doing this for about 2, almost 3 months.
I'm fluent in Spanish, and have rapidly progressed in my Japanese studies, so I believe that I could hold up a conversation in it if I need too.
I believe myself to have quite a bit of experience with the Oekaki. I use it often and am familiar with all the tools it offers. I've read all the Oekaki Guides I could find, and see myself as having quite a lot of knowledge on the subject. When I have the time, I often end up going through old "Oekaki Help" posts made in the Suggestions and Problems thread to see if any new problems & solutions have popped up recently.
All in all, I thank you for considering this application and hope that I may contribute to the position C:
Thank you for your time, -Akirra
