Hm... I've been wondering about something for a long time, and it sort of bothers me right now, so I figured I'll ask you guys. (:
When you write a novel, (Slash if, since I know a lot of people don't) do you know how you want your story to play out exactly, or do you just let the book form as you go?
I can never think of an exact plot before I write something, even if I try (which I don't anymore). I always end up changing my mind about it... yet I've met several people who can think out what happens in their book before they even begin writing, and I haven't met anyone who just goes with it yet.
Hmm. I want something to read, since I don't quite feel like trying to continue my book (Right here), so does anyone have something they want someone to read? I might give criticism, but it really depends on the book/short story/poem thing that I'm reading, since I can hardly criticize something that's way past my level of writing. (I rarely find one I can't help on, however (:)

When I wrote my first novel, I had the plot perfectly planned out at the beginning. All bits of it were perfectly realistic and relatable. It all made sense, and flow perfectly from "Idea A" to "Idea B" throughout.
Then I started writing. Everything changed. My main character became a male, and by the end he was a superhuman. Murders happened, I gave him a wife. And he got a twin sister, half brother, and a dragon for a best friend!
The whole thing evolved beautifully. Honestly, I am so much more happy with it now. Let it flow!

That's me basically, I'm terrible at plots, I might think oh yeah I'll write about.. Such and such.. And the main thing will be ...such and such... But then. Won't be able to plan what will happen between, i normally just let the story go how it wants, part of the reason I'm yet to finish a story...
nothing to see here

For me, I do have a semi-planned out plot.
Like, I make a sort of an outline as if I was doing, say for instance, an essay. (meh. xD)
But it helps me a lot and saves me irritation and time.
I'll do a couple sentences on major parts in my story.
Example: "Michael's friend is sniper-shot and killed. The bad guys are chasing Michael through the mall. A car chase on the freeway as Michael tries to escape from the assassins."
Something similar like that. See, that is a major part in the story.
I can look back at these sentences and all I have to do is elaborate on that.
But a lot of times, I just go with the flow. xD
I have a basic main plot in mind, but I just let my characters "act on their own".
Some people can do this while others can't. A lot of times, it is better to have at least something planned out.
A little brainstorming helps so you know what you want to happen in the story.
That way you won't get side-tracked and veer off the main plot line.
Well, I have a few stories you could read if you'd like. c:
I'm not really looking for criticism yet since I'm still editing the stories/chapters.
But you can take a look and tell me if you enjoyed it or not through PM, please. [I prefer that. ^-^]

@Kitty
I plan out a plot, but (just like valentine) I don't let that prevent me from changing things around. It's happened before- I've had an evil character turn into one of the main character's close friends, the villain changed a lot- pretty much the only thing that hasn't changed since I began the story is the main character's personality and her best friend.
And quite frankly, my story is a lot better because of the changes.

───────────────────────────────────────
hey guys!
i like telling a story by taking pictures and building a story line around it. i am a new member to chickensmoothie and i decided that i wanted to submit a story earlier on rather than later. so here is the dilemma.... i took a picture of a staircase. basically the view is what you would see if you were looking up to the top of the steps while you stand at the bottom.
anywhooo, my theme for my story is "you have to start and the bottom if you want to get to the top." basically, i want to create a short creative story and not having a solid idea on what i exactly want to do has been driving me crazy. since its the chickensmoothie community going to be reading my story i was wondering if anyone had anything that they could run by me. just simple ideas is all i am looking for.
i have been trying to write this for about a week and a half now and i can't find anything to spark my imagination. if any of you have any ideas please either pm me or post on this thread.
thanks guys! :**

So these two girls, from two different sides of the social pole - meaning one of them is a popular cheerleader and the other is your classic loner, band religious kind of chick. {Don't get me wrong, I was in band myself}. They get stuck together working on a project. So, of course you can tell that it doesn't go over well and the popular girl is stalking away, walking across the street, and a car comes jumping over the curb. Terrified she freezes, and the band-geek shoves her out of the way. The bandie gets hit, but she's touching the popular girl whens he does. And somehow, her "existence" meaning her brain and thoughts, etc, are propelled into the popular girl. So the popular girl and the band geek are stuck in the same body.
Any critique? I'm not sure if I'm going to do this and the plot line isn't really fleshed out, so I can't really provide more detail than that. The title would probably be the popular girl's name.
This idea interests me quite a bit. Although at first it seemed a little cliche, it definitely seems like, when written, it will be very interesting, different, and riveting. I'd love to read a story about this c:

Bare with me for a second. I'm typing this from my phone, so I appologize for any grammar mistakes. Okay, so I have this plot that has been on my mind for about two years. But the problem is is that I don't know how to write it. The situation here is kinda hard to explain, because the plot isn't 100% website appropriate. So, I'm going to try and explain this as best as I possibly can.
So this girl ((Haven't decided on her age, I'm thinking maybe nineteen-ish)) is kidnapped by a man. Things happen. She gets pregnant.
When I write, I love to be detailed, but I really don't want to write in detail with the scenes in this. I just don't feel comfortable. And the problem is is that I can't just take the scenes out because its the main point of the plot. What do I do?

Well, um, that would be a bit difficult. o.o I can see where that would be extremely hard to do and awkward. If I were wanting to write the story, I I would probably describe everything leading up to that certain stuff, and I would cut the scene before anything, you know, serious starts happening. I would pick up when that awkwardness was over (or maybe a certain number of hours depending on what I planned on happening next), and then I might somewhat explain, in very minor detail, what had taken place. Then, with more (perhaps much more) detail, I would describe the girls response to what had just happened. That way, even though I sacrificed detailing one section, I regained it afterwards. I don't know. That's all I really have for you right now, but I hope this little bit helps.

So much yes here.
This sounds like it would make an amazing book. I would definitely read it.
For a title I think I'd go with something like "Merged" personally.
