Chase laughed "If you need cleaner water there is some over there"he said using his snout to point toward some water that was much shallower.

Birch looked at him laugh, wondering why he was laughing at her; but mantained her neutral, calm composure. Birch glanced in the direction Chase was pointing. Slowly she walked over to the shallows, softly placing her feet on the dirt shore, careful not to get any more excess mud on her damp leg feathers. She softly exhaled once she reached the pooling water and waded in. The mare looked down at the swirls of mud that washed off her fur, watching them trail in the direction of the water's current. She switched her gaze from the water onto the stallion, but only slightly moved her head so it didn't look she was spying- her curiousity still beckoned, but she didn't want to come off as a weird female to him.
Finally after a moment she opened her muzzle, ''Thanks..'' she mumbled out not knowing what else to say, despite her terrible timing to thank him.

Chase followed her near the shallow water but didnt stay in the water. Instead he went on land his hoofs not too muddy. His black mane singing from the sun. He waited for Birch to finish and when she thanked him he turned his attention to her. "No problem"he said flicking his tail on the soft grass.

She bobbed her head, tip-toeing foreward so no dirt stuck to her damp legs as she made her way in the direction of Chase. Birch halted a few feet from Chase and bent her head to sniff at the very few plants. ''Soo.. what now?'' she questioned softly, flicking her tail as she glanced up at him again.

Chase thought a moment then looked at her"Well we can look for a herd i guess"he said but saw the sun setting over the the tree's. "But i think first we need to find a place to sleep". He scanned the area but couldnt find anyplace,at least near the water.

Birch nodded, her attention focused on him. ''I agree. Rest is needed.'' she replied, walking foreward. Birch too, looked around in wonder. ''Perhaps.. we just try to walk in areas that have shallow water.. shallow water means there is a shore, eventually.'' she scrunched her shoulders after speaking of her proposal; to Birch there wasn't really any other idea of what to do.

Chase nodded"Well i know if we go this way"he said directing his head east,"that there is a a shore because thats where i came from"

Birch blinked slowly, her eyelids droopy; sleep always called to her as soon as the day started to end. ''Good plan.'' she agreed turning her head to look in the direction he was refering to. She shook her coat, a little cool breeze tickled her sides. Birch respositioned her footing before walking over to Chase so they were side by side. ''You lead the way then.'' she said, perking her ears.

Chase saw sleepy she was and decided they should hurry some. "Ok come one"she said starting to walk. As the sun started to fall it made the dense woods even darker. Chase's mane was vanishing in the darkness as they walked. Half of his face was covered from his mane so the only part of his face you could see was his bright green eyes and his white mouth.

Birch trotted after him in silence. Through her drooped eyes, all she could see was shadows. Being a tad scared of dark, unknown things such as shadows, Birch sped up her pace to match Chase's gait. She softly snorted, squinting her eyes to look foreward in the direction they we going. ''How much longer?'' Birch asked.

Chase looked at her his green eyes now the only thing she could see. "Not too much farther,gotta remember this is a big swamp"
