The Barricades (Les Miserables roleplay)

Let's keep in mind before I begin that I'm gonna twist a few things and I'm basing this more off the musical than the book. Thank you.

THE BARRICADES


You may recall a line from the famous musical where Enjolras (aka that guy who is never really given a name but who sort of leads the entire rebellion, you know, the "Now it's time for us all to decided who we are" guy. yeah, him.) tells the boys that they are the last barricade. So...were there more? What happened to them? Well, that is for us to decide. This is a story of our choosing. We will decide our fate, as we fight for a new world that will rise up like sun. Behold. We lay our scene, not in fair Verona, but in France, in the time of the June Rebellion.

THE CAST

In this time period, there were no women fighting. Well, there was Eponine, but that wasn't supposed to happen. She wasn't even fighting, really, she ju-... sorry. Anyways, there were few women. So please, for realisms sake, be a barricade boy. Barricadde Boys are boss. I may except one or two girls though. PM me first.

Reason to rebel: Why not? Life is looking down, my family is struggling to put bread on our table, and we can't afford to do anything but work hard to change things. If there is even the slightest chance this will work, it is worth it.

(Okay, if this is still a thing, I am most definitely joining- I've been dying for a Les Mis roleplay ^.^ Quick question- is gay love allowed? I know some people don't like it, so I always feel the need to ask. Either way, count me in to make a Barricade Boy or two!
One a side note, I loved your intro- the R&J reference made me laugh )

((It's definately a thing still, its just not kicking off quite as quickly as I would have liked; well, I suppose its fine, if you really feel the need, but I'd rather not. Not because I have anything against that kind of love, love is love, but for the roleplays sake...you know. but if you really HAVE to have it that way its fine.; R&J, gotta love the classics!; you can use real characters from the books, but please forgive me if I dont know who they are because I JUST started the book. Like literally yesterday.))

What's your name?
Hello, I'm Tessier- it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. You can call me Tess if its easier for you to remember.

How old are you?
I'm twenty-one this year, one of the younger ones here, but not the youngest. We're all pretty close in age though, because most of us are enrolled at the university. The exception to that being citizen volunteers, who come in all shapes and sizes because young or old, all are welcome.

A description of yourself, please.
Well alright. I'm neither short, nor excessively tall- about average height, I guess. I enjoy running in my spare time, so I'm slim and don't look very muscular, but I assure you, I can hold my own in a fight. I've got dark brown hair that's nearly black, which falls just past my shoulder blades, so I suppose it's relatively long. It's wavy and tends to be unruly, so I almost always wear it tied back with a ribbon. I've got a pale complexion with a few scattered freckles, but not many on my face, and I haven't any facial hair. My eyes are dark green, a sort of mossy colour, with a few flecks of brown.

Has anyone caught your fancy?
I'm not currently seeing or courting anyone, if that's what you mean. And thus far, I haven't set my eye on anyone either.

Why are you taking part in the revolution?
Well, for one thing, it's a just cause, so why wouldn't I? I come from a wealthy family, like most of the boys here, so I've never experienced the poverty that plagues most of this country, but I see it daily. I want to help, to make a difference in this world, for the better, before I die. What good is life if you only live for yourself? My parents don't agree with this rebelling I'm doing, but I'm sure they think its a phase that will pass. But it's so much more than that. We're going to change France, make it a place for the people! In summary, I'm fighting for what I believe is just and good.

Favorite line/song from the musical?
(You're asking me to pick just one? Oh man, that's tough. "Drink With Me" and "Do You Hear the People Sing?" and "Little People" from the original musical are all great, but so are "Turning" and "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables", both of which make me super sad every time I hear them. I also really like "Stars" for some odd reason ^.^ As for my favourite line, I really like "Let others rise to take out place until the earth is free" and Gavroche's line in the new movie "Everyone's equal when they're dead".)

Anything else?
I'm studying literature at the university, getting a literary arts degree. I'm mainly interested in older novelists and poets. Jehan Prouvaire is a dear friend of mine- the one to introduce me to Enjolras and this cause, actually. I tend to always have a book or two with me, either for studying or pleasure reading.
