...Her heartbeat was slow. Her vision was blurry; there was no difference from black and white to her tired eyes. Each step stung like a bee. Every movement was slow and sloppy, occasionally accompanied by a trip or two. Each blink carried a teardrop to the ground. Each sob shook her hammered frame hard. To this Fae, life was now meaningless.
Why? The question echoed in her mind.
Why them? But it was left unanswered.
Why death?
A loud rumble of thunder was enough to bring the shattered Vixen known as Snowpoint Charlotte Freeze back to reality; to the reality she wanted to escape from. "Why... Why am I so... weak?" Snowy questioned as she lowered her head so that the only thing she could see was the auburn pine branch she was currently resting on. But, her sobs silenced down, and her mourning expression soon turned into a determined one.
"No... I won't let anything happen to my pack..." , the Vixen stated, "I... As the Lead Hunter and Ice Spirit, I'll protect the pack, even with my life..."
She then stood up with a mad expression, staring, or more like snarling towards the sky with a determined and fierce look in her usually soft blue eyes. "I won't let death rule... I can't!"
And it all ended with a scream.
Bolting up from her moss bedding with a scream, tense wings and eyes as wide as saucers, Snowy was abruptly woken from her sleep by a sudden crash somewhere outside her den.
It was all a dream.
Thank God.
Calming down her system and taking in deep breaths instead of the shallow, short ones she usually made when she was shocked, Snowy shook her head and stood up, but ended up falling onto her flank due to her legs still feeling wobbly from the shock. After a few minutes of laying there in a shocked, scared state, Snowy managed to sober up enough to let her stand up and walk out of the den, still drenched in sweat and her head hanging limp. She recieeved quite a few weird stares from her fellow packmembers as she passed by he center of the camp and poked her head into Gwendolyn's den, still hanging her head low.
"A-alpha, I'm going on a border patrol... I-i just n-need to clear my mind for a b-bit..." she mumbled, silently enough for the others to stay deaf on their conversation - if one could call it that, but clearly and loudly enough for Gwendolyn to understand her. Without waiting for an answer, Snowy retracted her head from the Alphess' den, and without looking back, took off towards the borders.
