Serena waved back at KC as he did, and smiled softly as KC reached her. She bit her lip insecurely as she gazed at the couple, completely missing KC's sign. She watched them for a moment, somewhere wondering if they should scare them. I mean, Serena knew how it was to meet the person you love silently, desperately praying nobody would find out. She watched the couple a bit longer, smiling softly as she thought they were rather cute, completely forgetting why she was hidden behind the maple tree. "They're cute together." she whispered to KC.

Kaleb caught himself before he leaped out from the tree when he noticed Serena just standing there. A scowl replaced his joyous grin. "Come on, Rena. That's my brother." he whispered back, utterly grossed out. At this point, he just hoped the couple hadn't heard them. "And he's probably just playing with her. You know how it is. She's a maid, he is a prince. Please, can we just.." He motioned towards the cuddling pair. "Please?" His eyes pleaded. He hadn't been able to surprise his brother since they were kids, and he wanted to try again. Now was an excellent opportunity.

Serena sighed softly, looking at Kaleb. "Fine." she replied, looking at the couple. She now wondered if Alexander really was playing with her. If he was, he was a sick person. Serena was glad she didn't have to marry that guy. She bit her lip softly, not quite knowing how she had to surprise them. She just gave a simple nod to KC before she walked out of their 'hiding' spot, deciding to let KC do the whole surprise-thingy. Serena had always been shy and didn't really know how to handle in situations like this.

Kaleb's grin was immediately back, lighting up his whole face. He looked like a little boy opening a Christmas present. He jumped out of their hiding spot and towards the couple with a yell. "BOO!" Cheesy, he knew, but it was the only thing he could think of at the moment.

Alex smiled slightly ans stood beside her, "Honey, I never saw you as a maid and I never SEE you as a maid. I see you as a royal princess, with eyes that light up the sky. You are NOT a maid to me. You are by best friend and my GF and I love you." Suddenly, noticing Kaleb and his yell, he jumped almost out of his skin, "KALEB!"

As the prince exited the Queen's parlor, he decided to head to the kitchens, for he was ravenous. He hadn't eaten since early yesterday, and it was already past noon. Plus, he was a boy, so what could he say? He passed through several corridors and asked for directions twice, but finally made it to the kitchens. A few skinny boys perhaps three or four years younger than himself streaked by, carrying buckets of who knew what. He skillfully dodged them in the narrow hall, and peeked into the room opposite from him. A plump woman stood in front of a built-in oven, the fire blasting her cheeks and causing sweat to trickle down her forehead. In the oven roasted a delicious looking and smelling, duck. His stomach rumbled, but he passed the cooking meat and headed to the next room. There, he found it empty of humans, but not of food. The lighting was dim, but it was bright enough for him to make out the many barrels of fruit and various salted meats. Nick didn't think anyone would mind him taking just a few apples and maybe a scrap of beef, as he crept about the room, taking what he needed.

As he shut the door softly behind him, the prince deftly ran back down the way he came, and exited out of a servant's passage. The sun was at it's peak, but it was still a bit frosty. His apples were ripe, almost too ripe, but they tasted sweeter that way. Taking a bite out of a particular red one, the prince exited the palace walls to venture out into the market. He had no idea what his siblings were doing, but was sure they were busy. And he was rather curious to see what the Avalon markets were like.

He took his time, walking past the various vendors and stalls with a bit of a skip in his step. It was a beautiful day, and although Aiden's death was still fresh in his mind, the prince pushed all thoughts of his oldest brother away, and instead focused on his walk. As he turned a corner, he found himself in a lonely alley. The stalls here were a little dirtier and the wares that were being sold looked a bit more expensive. Probably a pirate's plunder that they were selling. He shuddered, not wanting to get involved in any violence, and turned around. But it was too late. A big man, probably about six and a half feet with bulging muscles stood from a wooden stool. He walked around his vendor, where he had been selling gold jewelry, and started towards Nick. Nick's heart thumped at the sight of the man and he sped up, twisting through the sparse crowds and picking up his pace as the man drew closer. In his horror, he noticed his pursuer draw out a wicked knife from his belt, as he turned a corner. He was soon lost, more concerned about getting away from the man than getting back to the castle. But the man seemed to know his way very well and soon had him cornered in another alley where there was no where to hear him scream. Nick was pressed against a brick wall, nothing to climb, no route of escape. His pursuer watched him with a wicked gleam in his eye, knowing his victim had no where to go. He was trapped.

Nick squeezed his eyes shut. If only Tristan was here, or anyone. A guard. Why hadn't he thought to bring a guard? How foolish of himself. He had most unfortunately forgotten to bring his sword. With regret, he remembered too late that he had left it in his guest suite. He could hear the man's breath on his cheek now, and hesitantly opened his eyes. The man growled at him, using his hand that wasn't gripping the knife to press Nick's neck against the wall, nearly choking him to death. "You're that princey lad, ain't ya?" he growled, his rough voice sending shudders through the poor boy's body. He didn't make a noise though, and kept silent, his eyes shut again. "I asked you a question, boy!" The man's breath smelled of cheap whiskey with a tinge of garlic. He brought the knife up to Nick's ear. "Answer me or I'll rip your ear off!" Nick didn't doubt him. He hesitantly opened his mouth, trying to speak but finding it hard since the man's thick arm was pressed against his throat. He whispered a quick yes, slowly opening his eyes. The man wasn't familiar at all. How did he know he was a prince? His clothes weren't terribly extravagant, and he wore no jewels. But he forgot all his questions when the man slammed him to the ground, and brought one of his huge fists down on his head. Everything blacked out after that. He was slowly fading.. like Aiden.

Kaleb laughed, doubling over onto the grass. He sat motionless on the slightly damp grass except for the occasional shudder from his seemingly endless bouts of laugh. "Haha, should've seen.." Another laugh. "Your face.." He stood, almost drunkenly, and leaned against Serena for support. "Care to introduce us?" he asked, gesturing at the woman next to his brother. His grin was too wide, and his cheeks were beginning to ache. But it was too funny.

Serena giggled softly as she noticed Alexander was scared to death. Kaleb seemed more drunk at the moment, but she knew he was just having a lot of fun. He was adorable when he was like this. She searched for KC's hand and held it. She didn't knew why she wanted to hold it whenever it was possible. Maybe because she hadn't seen him for more than a year, and was still frightened to loose him. She watched the happy boy and smiled. It was nice to see him this happy. She flashed a warm smile towards Crystal and Alexander. Of course she already knew the maid, but she decided just to let Alexander introduce her.

"Oh, you bloody twit..." he said playfully, laughing as he saw his brother with so much joy, "Guys, this is Crystal, my girlfriend." he began, motioning toward her.

Kaleb raised his eyebrows at the word girlfriend. What a strange term. The princes were known to have a few mistresses, but never girlfriends. His laugh faded, his grin turning more serious. He wrapped an arm around Serena's waist and straightened, standing properly, no longer drunk with laughter. He cleared his throat awkwardly, not sure whether or not to approach the maid. "Alexander, can I speak with you for a moment?" he asked, eyes locked with his brother's. With a quick glance at the maid, he added, "Alone?" The prince gave Rena's hand a quick squeeze, let go, then headed over to the maple tree to speak privately with his brother.

I doubt Shade. will be returning, and well, to put it frankly, I'm just tired of having to tell new members which spots are open and which ones are not. I can put up the new thread really soon, and we can start using that. Or, if you guys just want to keep using this thread, that's fine as well.
