Chako raised her head (with much struggling), and licked Teru's head. He would be okay.

Several tears slid down Rako's cheek as he looked over at Teru and Chako... "Sowwy Chako...Tewu B okai?" (Sorry Chako, Teru will be okay?) He cocked his head, trying to convince himself that it was true...

"he will. I'm not so sure about me," Chako said gently, smiling despite that she was in a world of hurt. Would she have to see Yara there? Why couldn't he come down here and they could be mates and raise Teru and Fuji together. She didn't want to leave these pups who had grown to love her so much. She wished she hadn't introduced hunting to the poor children. Then this whole thing wouldn't have happened.

"No...You won't die..."Teru whined, looking up at Chako. "You...Won't-" He stopped when he suddenly couldn't breathe and his nose started to bleed. The pup rested his head on the ground and lay there helplessly as his life was drained away from him. He tried desperately to sit up, but he fell back down and rested his head on Chako's leg...He closed his eyes and, a few moments later, he had sadly died, despite what Chako had said.

Yara's eyes flooded with tears as he padded up to Chako, he was happy to see her, but not in this condition. "Chako... I'm so sorry..." He nuzzled her, his tears falling to the ground.

"TERU!!!" Chako screeched, trying to wake the dead pup from the endless dark sleep.
