mercy & whale ;; when did you guys merge? i mean i noticed a while ago but when and why? if you don't mind me asking xD yes, currently we are not looking for any more moderators. holmes (now consulting detective) has remained as mini-mod from the previous thread. if i feel that there needs to be more staff then i shall open up the forms and make an announcement.

pie ;; well seeing as we haven't had anyone put forwards a book we can't choose a book. if there aren't a few suggestions by, at least, sunday i will put two book forwards and see which one gets the majority vote. then we can look at that one c:

a question for all ;; when reading books do you find it easier/prefer to read them in third or first person? personally i don't mind either way. i used to only write in first person but know i mostly write in third, though i still do write with first. when reading either appeals to me - both in different ways. i prefer first for diaries and more girly/teen books for other books and young adult/adult books i prefer third person. having said that though, recently, all the books i've read have been written in third person and i am starting to get accustomed to that and only liking third person. what are your thoughts/opinions on this?

Yes, Third person and First person should be used depending on the story; it makes it better, Me thinks. I used to write in first person (ongoing hopeful future author here ) then I trained myself to get better; including writing in third person. Does anyone write any sci-fi, action, fantasy ... does anyone write any books here, that each post is at least a paragraph long? Looking for potential writing friends, and good books to follow!

I am homeschooled and as part of the curriculum I am doing a program called one year adventure novel. I haven't started any of the writing yet, but when I do I might post parts of it on CS to get feedback.

I usually alternate between 1st and 3d person. Not in the same story, but in multiple stories. I usually use 1st person if my story is about realistic things and 3rd person if my story is about fictional thing.

Why you love to read: Because new worlds+adventure+plots+characters+different time periods+ fantasy+romance+humor+anything is possible= best thing ever.
Why you joined: Well, I absolutely and completely am a book nerd. Always have been, always will be. It's my hobby and past time. I have a book review blog with a friend, and I always have a book on the go plus a few more waiting to be read. I'd love to have someplace to discuss books with other people, it's something I've always wanted to do but never got the chance to do.

personally, i don't mind which viewpoint the book is written in. i've read so many of each, i'm kind of used to both.
i think first person seems more personal, so i do find it better for more... realistic books, or for characters nearer my age, because it helps me feel more connected to them.

Why you love to read: Um, wow. Hard to explain. Reading allows me to not only get away from the stress of reality, but let's me see things from other people's perspective. Understanding people is so difficult in real life, but when you go in a book, you are in their shoes. Their mind. You know how they perceive things and it helps me to be open-minded.
Why you joined: I decided to join mainly because, well, books. I like to hear the thoughts and opinions of other people and because I don't know anyone (In real life) who enjoys reading as much as I do, here is one of the only places for me to discuss it.

Why you love to read: Because, it unlocks a whole new world from someone's imagination. I could go anywhere I wanted at any time period I wanted to be in. From a dog's point of view to a knight from Medieval Times, the adventures are endless. A good book captivates its reader and takes them beyond the limits of life. Reading takes me on the most thrilling adventures and unimaginable dreams. It inspires one's mind to write books of her own as well. c:
Why you joined: Well, I would like to discuss books, authors, and anything in that catergory with other avid readers like myself. I am known as an extreme "book consumer" and am a nerd. xD I would like to talk with other book nerds and just make friends along the way. ...Because my real life friends are not nerds whatsoever and reading is not their life unlike it is mine. cx
