-throws The Perks of Being a Wallflower at you-
You can't tell me that book is shallow. I agree, I don't usually prefer high school-centered books, probably because I've grown out of them, but damn.
All I'm saying is be careful to generalize.

@ Artesian and Talia23 - I know right? Drives me absolutely insane when I have just one word that has momentarily slipped my mind and it's perfect, or if I can't think of a good synonym.

I always have trouble with words related to wicked and sheepish.

I never used the word shallow, nor did I intend to imply that connotation at all... And I have never read that book, so I don't really feel qualified to talk about it. I also believe this is getting a little too personal. I simply am not very inclined towards plots like that, so don't hold me accountable for having a slightly different opinion.

I... Don't really know why you think it's getting personal. I only used the word shallow because everyone else was throwing around the word 'deep'. If something isn't deep it's shallow, right? Or flat. Static. I guess I have a tendency to give all plots a chance, so as I said before, just be careful to generalize.

I think why 1000 Umbrellas thinks you meant "shallow" is because you've written "not very deep" and that books that don't put their main focus on romance "have more meaning", which kind of equals shallow.
I got the impression too that you think storys that focus on the romance are shallower than ones that don't. But whatever xD

I just think that just because you don't like a certain genre doesn't mean it's shallower, or has less meaning, than the genres you do like. And I think that's what 1000 Umbrellas means too.

Tell me if I'm wrong xD

Oh, and sorry if this seems like we're ganging up on you! O_o That's certainly not my intention (and I'm sure 1000 Umbrellas doesn't mean to, either).
I actually like clarifying things, because it makes further discussion that much easier. Besides, I also like differing opinions, so it's nice discussing this with you ^^

Now that I'm accepted, I'd love if I could receive critique on the story I'm writing.
I'm still editing the first two chapters, as I've decided that the main character will not be mute.

Also, I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on love triangles.
I know they're often portrayed as the result of poor writing, but I'd like to think they can be done well.

Love triangles are a favorite of mine, as long as it doesn't overpower the main conflict.
I'm currently writing a novel where a boy and two twins all fall for the same girl, but none ever get the courage to confess to her. The twins, who are very close, begin to have conflict with one another because of this, and it causes a rift in their relationship.

As a side note, let's try to avoid heated arguments. If you have a problem, take it to pm.
