Hawkstar gestured with his tail. "We'd better get going. We don't want LeafClan and DarkClan to think that they can get away with crossing our borders just because we haven't had a patrol today."

Talontip nodded. He didn't want any cat to cross his clan's borders.

Skyfrost opened her eyes, the sharp smell if herbs filling her head. Yawning she stood up, knocking her muzzle on a twig. "Oww!" She muttered, before padding off to find Treefur

Hawkstar walked through the forest. He felt a small breeze and shivered. It was still Greenleaf, but he knew that Leaf-fall wasn't too far away.
Hawkstar suddenly stopped and turned to face his clanmates. "Do you smell anything?" He was pretty sure that he did.

"No, nothing but leaves." Rivermist meowed, sniffing the air. "I smell the scent of poppies, but no prey or other clan cats."

"Finally.." Treefur sighed when he was done sorting. He shook his fur and purred.

"Treefur!" Skyfrost called. She poked her head round the corner, trying to find Treefur

"Hmmm? What is it, Skyfrost?" Treefur meowed, stepping away from his supply.

"Okay," Hawkstar said, reassured. For a moment he thought that he had come across an odd scent, but then decided that it must have been his imagination. He couldn't smell anything but the normal smells of the forest now.
He padded over to their scent markers. They were on the DarkClan-LightningClan border, by the river. "A DarkClan patrol may come by soon," Hawkstar commented. "I hope that they don't make trouble."
Although DarkClan cats weren't bad cats, they weren't really known for having strong friendships with the other clans. However, LightningClan didn't have many problems with them. Hawkstar hadn't heard of any trouble between the patrols recently, but there used to be when he was an apprentice many moons ago. Back then, the DarkClan patrols had been pugnacious.
What am I so worried about? Hawkstar asked himself inside his head. That was a long time ago. I think that the badger attack has put me on edge.
