Gently Firepaw nudged her head, exchanging a worried glance with his friend. "Come on Mistystream," He whispered, "We need to get you back to camp."

Carefully opening her maw, she tried to speak, though choked on blood as it filled her mouth. Eventually managing to gain her words, she spoke, though so quiet even a mouse would have trouble hearing her. "The kits..." She whispered, "Are they....ok..?"

Firepaw had to press his ear to her muzzle, and he nodded, "Yes," He whispered, "They're fine. You did well protecting them." He couldn't help as emotion caught in his throat. She had been like a mother to him and his litter mates, it was so hard to watch her in this state.

"Good..." She murmured, closing her eyes. She knew that knowing they were ok, she could go peacefully.

Stormpaw looked at Mistystream. He didnt know what else to put on here. "Oh! Oh!" He said, racing off and coming back with a special leaf and pooring the joice on her wounds.

Firepaw watched tentatively as Stormpaw tried to help the she-cat, and layed his tail in front of him; knowing what Mistystream wanted. Tears welled in his eyes as he buried his head in her silver fur. "You don't have to go..." He whispered.

"Hush..." She whispered, trying harder to breath. "You will be fine without me. You are a great warrior..." She whispered, closing her bright, beautiful blue eyes for the last time. "Tell the kits that I'll miss them, and Russetpaw, and Rootpaw that I love them..." She had trouble with her last few words, finding it hard to get enough breath.

Firepaw nodded solemnly, finding it hard to maintain his strong exterior as he lost yet another one, of what felt like, of his kin.

Rootpaw watched from a distance, hanging his head low in mourning.

Stormpaw winched. Nothing he tired helped and he sat down, hanging his head low.

As Mistystream took her last breath, Firepaw threw his head backward, letting out a low, hoarse yowl of loss, letting the tears run freely. Rootpaw joined in as he padded over to his brother's side, and pressed his pelt against his.

Stormpaw looked at the two brothers, sadly he backed awawy, hardly knowing Mistystream.

As Firepaw stopped, so did Rootpaw. Rootpaw licked the she-cat gently between the ears, and then nodded to Firepaw. They picked up her body, and headed back to camp.

Stormpaw sighed and helped Rootpaw and Firepaw bring her back to camp.

As Firepaw placed her lifeless body in the center of the clearing, anger rushed through him. He wanted to kill those dogs; and those kits. If it wasn't for them, she'd be fine. Quickly he shook the look from his face, and once again looked pained. He knew that he could lay a paw on those kits, it wasn't their fault they got attacked by dogs. Mistystream fought bravely to protect them, and he wasn't about to undo the last of her actions. Rootpaw lay by her side, and buried his head into her pelt once again, and Firepaw sat close by Stormpaw. "Thank you," He whispered to his friend, "For trying to help. You did so well..."

"Just not enough." Stormpaw meowed to Firepaw. "Only if Silentgaze showed me more..."
