History Part One ;; From Father to Daughter

Postby voidsounds » Fri Jan 25, 2013 1:51 pm

The bitter mountain cold swept my fur out of my face and chilled my skin. My magenta eyes struggled to blink out the snowflakes that bombarded my face with such power and hostility. The wind shrieked and howled like a wounded animal as we trudged on hopelessly. My small body trembled with shivers and my nose was slightly blue.
“Come on, Chione,” a deep, scratchy voice called from ahead. “You’re falling behind of the tribe. Move your paws faster.” A grey and silver head turned from the large group of pale Kiamaras in front of me, stern green eyes scolding and commanding. “Obey your father, Chione North.”
‘I’m trying!” I complained a hint of whine in my voice. “My ‘little paws’ are nearly frozen off.” We had been trekking for hours on end, and for days. An avalanche had wrecked out mountain home and we had to relocate to a safer and warmed place. Our tribe of Kiamaras were climbing down from the highest mountain known to Kiamaras: the Peak of the Sky, Kylenice. It was named for the brave Kiamara who first braved to climb it, Kylen. The suffix was added for the bitter cold of the mountain. Rumors claimed that the snow that fell there was as hard as claws and hit you like stones, though I can say firsthand that’s untrue. All the Kiamaras in out tribe loved the mountain with a passion. We all love adventure and we brave the treacherous journey to home and back.
We all also have an interesting adaptation. Due to us living in our monochromatic home, we all are some form of white, grey, or silver-blue. Albinos are hard to see, and therefore I pass as normal in my tribe. We don’t discriminate against albinos or anything, either. If anything, we blend in better than the rest. Me snowy coat gave me my name and my stealthy nature.
“Chione, dear, please,” A dark grey head with ice blue eyes turned to face me as well, distinctly more feminine than the first. “Move along a bit faster, dear. We need to get out of this dreadful weather.”
“Alkanie,” the first head whined somewhat pleadingly. “Be a bit bolder. She needs to grow up knowing that the world won’t bend to her beck and call.” I watched innocently, huge pink eyes blinking. My parents argued a lot nowadays…
“Kalniveh,” Alkanie, my mother, said sternly. “You’re being too harsh on our only daughter. Why, she’s only 8 months old, a child!”
“But…” Kalniveh, my father, knew when he was beat. He lowered his head and padded against the sea of white, grey and blue-ish silver Kiamaras heading down the mountain to face me. “Chione, your mother may be right about me being too harsh,” he said, his face serious. “But I am right about being independent. The world won’t wait for you if you smell the flowers. The world won’t give you hand if you fall. The world is a cruel place, Chione. Never forget that.”
I was young, and didn’t fully grasp the meaning of his words of wisdom. I was still an innocent, pure, free child. “But Father,” I protested, eyes wide. “I like flowers.”
My father laughed, his deep rumbling voice echoing off the stone mountainside. “Indeed, child,” he said, smiling. His eyes glowed with affection. “But as your chief of the tribe, and you as the future leader, you must learn. One day I won’t be here to teach you, so you must learn from me what you can.”
“Kalniveh!” My mother called from the head of the crowd. “Have you finished your lecture yet?” I giggled, my mane bouncing.
“Coming, dear,” He called back. He gazed down on me with adoring eyes. “Come, Chione North,” he said gently. “Come to the front of the tribe and lead with your mother and I.” I padded up with him through the vast conglomeration of Kiamaras, through the sea of grey, white, and silver, up to the front. I felt proud, standing in front of such a great, noble and daring tribe.
And one day, I would lead them.

History Part Two ;; Frostbite

Postby voidsounds » Sun Feb 03, 2013 4:58 am

I woke up with a startling jerk, sweat pouring down my small frame ans freezing in rivulets. I sighed shakily, magenta eyes cast upward towards the large stone ceiling that shielded is from the buffeting wind outside. My white fur was caked with a thin layer of fluffy snow. The dark sky had only the faintest hints of sunlight in the corners of the horizon.
What an awful dream, I thought to myself, my young mind still buzzing from the startling dream. And it was so life-like. I discarded the thought, however, and walked out of the small cave dizzily, mind still foggy from sleep.
"Hey, Chione!" A masculine, medium-pitched voice called. The voice sounded remotely my age, about 15 months.I turned around sharply, trying to identify who spoke to me. I could find nothing, though. I shrugged and walked away.
The camp was quiet, the silence enveloping us like pine resin. I glanced around uneasily, my stomach turning. It was too quiet. Someone should be coming back from patrol, or waking up, or eating.
The patrol! I thought, my mind racing. Mother and Father had went on a patrol and said that they would be back by the time the sun touches the sky. My head whipped towards the east and to my horror, the sun was creeping up on the sky like a hunter. The bright ball was daunting me, and knowing my parents, they would be back before stars faded and before I woke up at dawn. My adrenaline raced as my mind skittered around. What could have held them up?
I whipped around and darted into the small stone cave where the past warriors slept. Their monochromatic pelts blended together in a large lump of fur. I hated to disrupt them at such an early hour, but this was an emergency.
"Get up," I snarled at them, urgency visible in my voice. "All of you!"
The Kiamaras' heads jolted upward and their eyes immediately zoned in on me. I met their glares with a gaze like sharp glass.
"What is it?" One grumbled, whom I recognized to be Ynett. His dark grey for reminded me of dirty snow. "It can't be past sunhigh already."
"My parents are gone," I said quickly, using my best leader voice. "They should have been back by now. I want some of you to come with me on a patrol to find them."
About five Kiamaras stood up and walked toward me. I nodded and gestured for them to follow me. We sprinted out of the camp, paws hitting hard stone.
The wind shrieked and bit at us, ripping our manes to the side, like gravity had decided to take a vacation. We sprinted against the harsh mountain wind, grunting with effort. The ice beneath out paws was slick and clear, giving the ground a liquid appearance.
Suddenly, my paws slipped, and I felt myself be free from gravity as I fell off of the side cropping we were on. My eyes widened as I vividly recalled my dream. Falling, falling, never touching the bottom. My body floated with ease as I sped down the mountainside, senses at their maximum and pulse resonating in my ears.
Suddenly, ground.
The hard stone hit me like lightning. Pain flashed all over my body and I gasped, feeling my ribs crack. I lay panting on the ground, wondering how far I had fallen. I trembled uncontrollably, inhuman pain driving salty tears out of my eyes and freezing them on my nose like diamonds.
I tried to steady my breathing as I looked up at the sky painfully. The sun was now visible and the sky was a dusty light blue. I looked back down and to my side. I saw a large, silver and dark grey mound lay to my side. My ears flattened as I sprung up, gasping with the intense pain that followed.
I recognized those.
I hobbled over to the mounds, the familiar scents of my parents haunting my nostrils. I made an undignified, high pitched moan and collapsed next to them, more hot, salty tears coming. I could hear the faint voices of the patrol from above me, but I didn't care. My small body was raked with sobs and I could smell death on my parents. I suddenly tasted blood and realized that my parents were covered in gashes oozing blood. Their limbs lay at odd angles and their expressions ones of fright. I buried my head in their bloody fur, anguish washing over me like a tidal wave.
I could hear the voices of the patrol all around me, now. I figured they had somehow found a way down to me. I could hear them exclaiming, cursing, sobbing, and whimpering. "Probably a mountain lion," they were saying. I ignored them and simply sobbed into my parent's cold fur.
I felt a warm body next to me, suddenly. "I'm sorry," a soft voice murmured in my ear. It was the same voice from earlier, but I numbly pushed that note aside. The mysterious male lie down next to me and I curled up against him, not knowing who it was and not caring. I cried into his fur, letting the cool minty scent of him overwhelm me. He must have been along on the patrol.
"Chione, it'll be alright," he soothed me. I continued to sob and the world blurred with tears. I could hear the rest of the Kiamaras leave to report back to camp. It was just me and him. My mind was numb with grief as I lay next to this male.
What now?

After I went back to camp, I went into my parent's den. I found five brilliant pink feathers laying there, filaments glistening. I knew, somehow, in my young heart, that they were meant to be mine. I never put them on, but I carried them everywhere I went from then on, awaiting the day I would wear them.

History Part Three ;; Heartbeats

Postby voidsounds » Thu Feb 07, 2013 12:07 pm

C ome on, your're a grown woman now, I thought to myself fiercely as I fiddled with my mane and feathers nervously. It's been over three months you've been on your own now. You've faced mountain lions, avalanches, and famine, and you're fussing about a-- My thoughts trailed off as I hesitantly thought of the word that had previously brought discomfort. ...date.
Just the other day my accomplice had feverishly requested me to meet him on the mountain ridge. He had blushed brightly and looked down as he said it, his intense eyes cast downward, trying not to focus on me. I had stammered and accepted the offer quietly, as if we were being watched. We then departed, heading out separate ways but eagerly looking forward to out meeting. He was the same Kiamara who comforted on the day of...the incident. We had known each other for five months now, since I was now twenty months and he was twenty-one months. Now, I have forgotten him completely, to dispel memories from my head that make me weak. All I remember of him is that he had the most stunning, intense eyes filled with luster. For now, I shall call him Luster.
I shook my head and after a split second, I left the small cave where I resided currently. It was far down at the base of the mountain, and I had settled there after my tribe disbanded because of the death of my parents. They refused to listen to me, they were so scared. I felt sorry for them, lost and confused like icicles in a volcano.
I strode out of the door, the wind blowing my hair to one side in the arctic breeze. Exhaling puffy clouds of frozen air, I trotted across the melting snow that covered the ground. Thoughts explode in my head with every step I took. What will happen? What's the risk of meeting him? Will this simply end in tragedy like my previous loved ones?
Suddenly, I was there all too soon. I saw him, silhouetted against the brilliant sunset, painting his fur in hues of red, orange, gold, and purple. His proud head was tilted slightly upward, gazing at the dying sun. I inhaled sharply, my heart seized by his proud, arching figure and his mane dancing in the breeze. My entire being focused on him unintentionally, hypnotized.
"Chione," Luster said softly, not turning around. "You came." His tail flicked and his ears angled backwards, obviously surprised and pleased by my company.
"Yes," I said, padding up to him and sitting down next to him. The grass felt cool under my paws, damp with the remnants of snow. "Did you not think I was to show up?"
He shrugged, masking his pleasure. "I guess I thought you would think it made you weak."
I laughed softly, rubbing my head against his jaw. "You know me too well," I said gently. "I was split between coming or hiding in my cavern, just me and my multitude of fears."
Luster frowned and bent down so that his head was level with mine, his intoxicating scent sliding along my nostrils. "What do you fear?" He asked softly, putting his paw over mine.
I looked down, nervous and tail twitching. My fur was stained with the colors of the drowning sun. "Swear that you'll never use them against me," I said, looking into his sparkling eyes. You're about to release your deepest secrets, Chione. You're skating on thin ice.
I sighed. His eyes really were nice.
"I don't fear death," I began softly, feeling Luster's eyes burn into me. "I fear prolonged suffering, though. Long periods of suffering are awful. I fear the unknown, because it is foreign to me and you never know what to expect. I fear losing loved ones..." I trailed off, choking back tears.
Luster's tail entwined with mine, gently and he nuzzled me. "Do you fear losing me?" He asked softly.
"Of course," I said. "Because I...I..."
"Love you?" Luster finished for me.
I was silent, but nodded, pushing my head into his neck fur.
"I love you too," He murmured. I promise that i'll love you forever...and a day. You are the best thing that's ever happened to me."
I sighed and licked his cheek. "Same, but with you," I said softly.
We slept together under the starts that night, heartbeats in sync.

History Part Four ;; Sharp

Postby voidsounds » Fri Feb 08, 2013 11:09 am

I breathed in the clear air of spring cheerily. Nothing like a cool, spring day to reinvigorate you, I thought, flicking my tail. My magenta eyes spied young creatures exploring with their mothers, exploring the wonders of life. Laughing, I bounded ahead, my spirits light and my head head high proudly. Why was I so excited, you ask? Well, this was to be a major turning point in my life.
Luster had asked to be my mate.
I felt that we had known each other for long enough and accepted each other's flaws with love. We were connected to each other, and I needed someone in my life to come to when I had troubles, when I was down, when I needed help. We both knew that we were older now, and we were adults. Luster was twenty six, and I was twenty four, two years. Luster fit the bill, and with a plus: he was so very handsome.
I bounded up to the waterfall at the base of Kylenice, the mountain where we decided to settle. We would reside in the cave at the base of the mountain where I stayed and excavate new tunnels for our future little ones, if we ever had them. It was cozy, far away from humans, other Kiamaras and most other dangers, and it was abundant in food. Herbs, small prey, everything we needed was there.
I stopped and gasped when I reached the waterfall, which we called the Liquid Crystal Falls. The water is so clear, legend has it that when it was first formed, you couldn't even see your own reflection in it. Now, it has a white-blue tinge to it, pure and true. It's water is always cold and refreshing, and the pool it formed is always clear. Trees and vines crawled around on the ground, and small mountain flowers dotted the ground.
There, in the center of the pool, lounging around casually, was Luster. My breath caught in my throat as he turned around and his insense, glittering eyes met mine. He smiled a charming smile and I flashed my pearly whites back at him.
I approached him slowly and nuzzled him. "Hey," I said, grinning.
"Hi," he replied, looking down at the cool waters, a nervous expression flickering across his face. He seemed somewhat out of it, constantly looking around and fiddling.
"You alright?" I asked him, nudging him.
His head snapped back toward me quickly. "Yeah, yeah, fine," he said absentmindedly.
I rolled my eyes, not buying it for a millisecond. "No, really, what's wrong?" I pushed.
He sighed and looked around. "I've heard that there's a mountain lion around here," he said quietly. All the birds seemed to fall silent. "I heard that since it's spring, and since the winter had been hard, it's hungry and out for meat."
My head spinned as I looked away from Luster. "Well," I said, turning back. "What can a mountain lion do to us? Together, we can overcome anything." I hesitated, fear coursing through me unconditionally. "Right?"
He looked away and said nothing. The birds were all silent in a forest normally alive with sound. It was all too familiar and all too uncomfortable.
Suddenly, a vicious snarl pierced the silence and a massive mountin lion burst out from the distance. Its intense eyes bored into me as it snarled again, yellow teeth gleaming. I was paralyzed with fear, hauted by the grotesque memories regarding mountain lions in the past.
"Run!" Luster screamed as he started to sprint away. But the mountain lion was much faster. It pounced into Luster, raking sharp claws up his sides and stomach. He screeched, trying to throw off the monster, but it was stronger than he was. It screamed and it's teech pierced Luster's neck. His eyes flashed with pear and angst once, then his eyes lost their luster.
"NO!"
The mountain lion whipped around, eyes zeroing in in me. I sprinted as fast as I could away from Luster's lifeless body, from the feline, from everything, tears streaming down my face. My heart felt like it was being ripped in two harder and harder with every step I took and with every pulse of my heart. Sharp heartbreak twisted my nerves until they were tight-sttung and tense. I didn't even check to see if I was followed, I just ran. I ran away from all the memories, all the pain, all the heartbreak.
I was done.

I didn't keep track of time. I numbly ran. And ran. And ran. When I finally stopped, I realized that now I was far away from Kylenice, and I realized that today I was two years. With trembling spirits, I un-clenched my paws and there were the five feathers I had held close to me for so long. Two of them had the bottoms stained reddish. Those are the ones I wear around my ear. Two were unscathed, as pristine as they once were. Those went around my tail. And the last still had the lingering scent od Luster. That one, I wear around my paw.
I lifted my head to the sun. It was the color of blood.
Now, my life begins. For real.

---

For all of your information, you have all gained an upper hand on me. You may or may not use this against me, but I will find you if you do. I officially don't recall any of this. Goodbye.
