Pandora slid to a stop at the first tree. She rose like a bear and slammed her forepaws angrily into the trunk. It kind of hurt."What do you think you're doing? You're not a squirrel, you know." She slid back to all fours and began to trot under the trees, looking from the roots to the limbs to keep from tripping."You're going to break your neck." She relaxed her shoulders, the trees would run out eventually.

Daly didn't reply, he just kept straining to leap from tree to tree. The dog needed to think of a plan, as he knew just as Pandora did, the trees would run out. Soon enough, she might as well have been right, because the mutt leapt to a weak branch and fell to the ground. He simply didn't have the will to get up, no matter how scared he was to face the female.
