The moon, shrouded in clouds, offered little light as Cacher trotted through the trees. What illumination it did send lit up the stark white snow the silver brute was walking through, throwing the trees around them into shadow. He lifted a snow-encrusted paw from the ground and set it down again, keeping a steady pace. A long day of travel had dampened the usually active wolf, and the cold weather was doing nothing to help. Cacher kept his head down but swiveled his ears to make sure his companions were still trudging along beside him. His gaze darted up to the glowing full moon hanging unchallenged in the middle of the black sky, although now and then a wispy cloud drifted across its shining face. As he stared transfixed at the moon he traipsed right into a snow-laden branch handing in his path, getting a muzzle full of pine needles and white powder all over the front of his body.
