((Kay, so this seems to be stagnating slightly, so I'm going to start us moving into the simulation. Pie, if you still want to jump in, you can! There are lots of kids at this party, so you can just be mentioned as being there.))
Marie smiled and took the present from Shiloh. "Thank you... Shiloh," she enthused, with a small pause before her name as if she were dredging it up from the invitations list, and added, as a sort of afterthought, "I love reading." She put it in a pile with the rest of the presents, and turned to Aspen with a cheery, "Thank you, and of course!" She seemed a bit more nervous than it was reasonable for a birthday girl to be. Perhaps it was just because there weren't any parents here, and she seemed to be the one organizing all this.
---------------
"Miss Kurone!" the assistant called. "The last guest is here. We're ready to start."
Marie nodded, and waved a hand to the assistant. The lady stood on a chair and clapped her hands, which was surprising loud in the chamber. "Everyone! We're ready to start the Simulacrum!" She rattled off a list of guidelines (don't die in the simulation, mental panic word is Cucumber Salad, blah blah blah), and then explained what they really needed to know.
"The simulation that's been chosen is a standard Fantasy one," she explained, glancing down at the sheet of paper she held in her hand. "You'll all have a choice of being Knights, Monks, Peasants, Royalty, Princesses, Enchanters, Mages, and Healers." She smiled in an flat way, as if her note sheet told her to. "Please choose what you wish to be before we hook you into the machine, so we can program it with the minimum of delay."
The man at the door, the older one with the tardis tie, asked each person what they wanted to be before letting them through the door, to be ushered into one seat in two long rows. The seats were fairly complex in appearance, all silver tubes, white plastic and soft cushions, but they boiled down, essentially, into a comfortable seat like a dentist's chair and a helmet that was designed to be put over their heads.
INSANELY BUSY!
I am moving! For the next month or so, I am going to be so very busy.
If I'm on here, it's because I'm unwinding with writing or pets or whatever.
Please do not add to my stress, if you can. Your support is appreciated.
