Darkpelt

Darkpelt's smile grew broader as Bluetail curled up under his chin. He lifted a paw to rest it on her side, but soon he felt himself being pushed over. He allowed himself to fall to his back, being pinned down by Bluetail. He laughed, his eyes disappearing in his smile. He batted at her ears with his forepaw, touching his nose to hers.

He let his paws slide up to dangle just around her neck, staring deep into her eyes. He froze a little, his muscles going tense. This was the most intimate he felt like he had ever been with Bluetail yet.

Bluetail
The she-cat pretended to bite at her mate's paw around her ears, all the while smiling broadly. She kept him pinned down on his back with her on top, her paws reaching into his fur to try and tickle him.

She let out a meow of laughter again as Darkpelt reached up and touched noses with her, and she wriggled her blue nose against his own, blue eyes closing for just a moment. His paws came to rest as they wrapped around her neck, and she looked down at Darkeplt who gazed up at her.

The aura shifted slightly between them, she could feel it in the air, and she could also feel him tense underneath her. Those yellow eyes looked up at her in a different way; like he was looking at her in a different light.

"Darkpelt...?" she whispered, unsure whether to break this connection.

I love you...I want to raise kittens together...

His ears perked up in response to the she-cats question. "Yes Bluetail?" Darkpelt replied, curious as to what she might ask.

Bluetail
She leaned down and gave Darkpelt's cheek a long slow lick which ended at the tip of one of his ears.

"I..."

She stopped herself for a moment, and considered the consequences of what she might say next would break this amazing spell between them. She didn't want to ask him; she merely wanted to tell him what was on her mind, and mayhap even talk with humour about it. She didn't want to keep secrets from him.

"Darkpelt, I had a peculiar dream a few night past..." she began, nuzzling his neck with her nose, feeling his strong pulse there, "and...And we were in it as Elders, and four cats came to visit us. They were...Ours..."

She pressed her face into his neck, embarrassed she had revealed to him what was on her mind, and a part of her was a little unsure of how he'd react to hearing this sort of thing.

Icefoot groaned a bit but kept still, reassured by her mate's touch.

Pebblefrost smiled "I'm so lucky to have such a nice mate" he said.

Shadowheart felt her smile grow a tiny but wider as she said, "I could say the same thing."

She walked into camp. Breathing hard

He listened intently as the she-cat spoke, and he could detect a bit of hesitation in her voice as she explained her dream. Darkpelt blinked a few times as he processed the possible meaning. Darkpelt himself was not sure about his feelings on the subjuect, just that he didn't want any for a little while. Even though the Clan was at peace at the moment, there were many things that were out of their control just lurking in the shadows, out of sight for now. He never would have wished the experiences he and Bluetail had gone through on his worst enemies. Much less his own kittens.

"I would love kits of our own... but I just don't know if I'm ready myself. With so many problems of my own, I'm not sure if I'd be ready to prepare a safe environment for frail little kittens." He meowed calmly, keeping his paws dangled around the back of her neck as she stood over him, her fur still dripping with water. His smile had disappeared in the seriousness of the topic, but he quickly brought it back as he gave her a little lick on the nose. "I really do want them some day, Bluetail." He added, reassuring her he did want to start a family. "Just... when the time is right."

She could feel the change in him, Darkpelt going all so serious, and a small part of her regretted telling him of her dream. His lick to her nose reassured her a little, but her smile was gentle; a hint of sadness hiding behind it.

"Of course," she mewed softly, her blue eyes closing slightly as her cold damp fur was warming and drying against his thick pelt, "when the time is right..."

She touched noses with him briefly, before pulling back.

"I merely wished to share my dream with you. I know that the Clan isn't stable, nor do either of us feel truly ready to have a family. I would never force you to become a father before you felt ready...I respect you and myself far too much to do something like that,"

She paused, her smile growing a little wider.

"I apologise, it's why I seemed a little distracted when I awoke a few nights ago. I know it's not the time to think about kittens; the Clan is only quiet for the moment...I feel it in my whiskers that something is just beyond the horizon. And the last thing we need is to put helpless lives at risk,"

Bluetail leaned back down and tickled her mate's face with her long white whiskers.

"Besides...Why rush? We have all this time to ourselves; we're able to go to beautiful places like this and share the amazing feeling of peace and relaxation together,"
