I honestly think that if the lion was added to the list (which I know it won't be, but bear with me) that a lot of people that have one would probably put it up for trade/auction just to try to get more out of it (like a few tiers above wherever it was added) it's just like any other popular pet. A lot of people hold popular pets or pets that will go rare soon and then when they do will auction them. Did you notice the excess of Shima Longtail's floating around after they turned rare? Everyone wanted to trade it for twice what they got it for or more. People may really like the lion (just like they like the shima) but if a trade they liked came along they would take it.
Also, I haven't looked but I am sure there are probably more open auctions for the lion than the blue snowflake (since that was the example used above). There's probably still more in circulation than the snowflake. Neither of them are on my wishlist, bbut I definitely see the lion more.

Really? I've seen quite a few of them yet. Most people are still trying to use their in trades to get onto the Lists. I saw a few auctions some time back, and someone tried offering one for my BA some days ago. I've seen people holding onto them-- but not with lock and key, just looking to trade them for more than they did originally during the original craze (which is still dying down).

We're trying to end the "double demand" thing going on in the CS economy. The demand is already taken into account when the rats are placed on the list.

People say Zebras have terrible demand. I want to look into that, because they are above all those in-demand pets like Coontail and Sunback, which already have demand applied. Would one be able to trade a Zebra for any of those including the Sunback/Coontail/etc. demand?

Currently, no. Double Demand is extremely popular. However, if you're patient, you might find someone willing to trade for what it's worth.

The list factors in whatever is needed to make the trade fair. No matter what people say about zebras "being worth nons" isn't true. Zebras often go for a value between a non and a sunback because not a lot of people really want zebras and therefore don't want to give up a lot to get them. It is absolutely still possible to get a coontail for a zebra - I've done it myself. You just need to find a trader who is willing to pay what the zebra is worth. :)

That's true that demand and rarity are taken into account, but many people just aren't as interested in rats as much as say, a dog or cat. So people aren't willing to always pay the fair amount.
