Hello. Just to be sure you know, this top part is a huge wip. I don't know what to do with it!
Sandtalon's Deathberries
Sandtalon gazed sadly at her brother. Lately he had become even more out of it; trying to attack clan mates and disappearing randomly. But, inside, Sandtalon knew Grayfur was suffering. She knew that he didn't want to be this way; unstable, insane, unable to interact normally with his clan mates. She knew she had to do something. She could feel it in the air around him. Cats were nervous around him and avoided him as much as they could.
The she-cat layed down. There was no way she could help him. She couldn't magically make him better or make him less insane. The only thing she could do was be there for him and spend time with him so that he wouldn't be completely alone, unless... no, she couldn't do that. She buried her head in her paws, letting out a quiet cry. She couldn't do that! She couldn't kill her own brother. But it's the only thing she could do for him. Before she did anything, though, she needed to talk to Cloudstar.
Sandtalon took her paws off of her face. Shakily standing up, she slowly walked over to Cloudstar's den. She stood at the entrance, her thoughts battling. Suddenly, determination surged through her and she spoke up. "Cloudstar?" she asked.
Cloudstar looked up at his name. "Yes, Sandtalon?" clearly not expecting her.
Sandtalon took a deep breath and pushed her way into the den. "I need to talk t-to you about," she paused, her courage and her words starting to fail her. "Grayfur," she finally choked out, sitting down.
"What about him?" Cloudstar could easily guess it had something to do with the warriors mental state, but he didn't know for sure.
"I-I can't stand to see him suffer like he is anymore. I... I thi-think I've come up with a way, to, ya know... send him on," she murmured.
Cloudstar was even more surprised. He had been so distracted lately. Was Grayfur really that bad?
"H-he only seems to trust me now... so I'd have to be the one that gave them to him," she said, almost seemingly to herself. "I'd have to get some Deathberries from Shadowcloud, though."
Cloudstar hesitated, thinking it through. If anyone know when he needed to pass on, Sandtalon would. "Alright."
"T-hank you," she said. She dipped her head then flipped around, padding out of the den as calmly as she could.
Cloudstar watched her leave, saddness coming over him. He couldn't imagine how she could be handling it.
Sandtalon padded into the medicine den. She shyly walked up to Shadowcloud, poking the tom on the back. He calmly turned around, so used to people poking his back to get his attention that it didn't spook him anymore. "What is it?" he asked.
Sandtalon quickly explained her plan to him, her heart hurting the whole time. Shadowcloud nodded slowly, pain grasping it's sharp claws at his heart to. "Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked her, needing to make sure she was absolutely sure about this. She nodded, and he could see a flicker of determination hidden in her eyes and knew she was as ready as she could be. He gave her the deathberries, being sure to warn her not to grasp the berries by the red bulbs instead of the stems. She gave him a sad thanks and headed off into the camp, then slipped away into the quiet forest.
She set the berries down where no cat could fine them, then set off to find something to hunt. She needed to find two pieces of prey so she could invite him to eat with her. She tried hunting at first, but her cloudy mind cause her to miss. Hissing, she took a quick moment to calm her nerves. She was then able to catch some prey; a mouse and a bird.
She grabbed the deathberries and slit open the birds body, slipping in the bright red berries. She pushed the two pieces back together, hiding the cut with the bird's feather. She trudged back to camp, dreading what came next.
"Grayfur, why don't you come eat with me in the forest?" she asked, putting on her best smile. Grayfur smiled back at her, too far gone to realize the set up.
"Sure!" he said excitedly. He glared at any cat nearbye, daring them to try and invite themselves. When no one did, Grayfur nodded. "Lets go!"
