Flame's Mourning

Fire flicked a red and burgundy tipped ear in the direction of a singing bird. As they moved away from the lake, more and more familiar scents reached his nose, guiding him toward the main camp, where dens were left abandoned or were clearly inhabited. It was easy to see Dumah's den -- but that didn't apply to Fire, he was blind after all -- and directly beside hers was a fairly large den that would have obviously been the alpha wolf's den. We should, of course. Dusk and I -- our mother and four siblings, they were killed by humans. I was blinded. She holds a very strong grudge against humans because of it. Our alpha doesn't like humans, but he tolerates them occasionally. In fact, he adopted Silence when his father passed from old age. Despite that, he paused, following Dumah's familiar scent to her den, parted from Artemis's side, and ducked under the deer pelt that hung over the front of the den.
Snatching a wolf pelt and a couple of deer pelts, he padded back, dropping them in front of her, before continuing, We enjoy Silence's company. If she didn't think you were a threat to us, or if she didn't view you as a friend, she wouldn't have brought you to us. She would have killed you as soon as she was certain that you posed a threat to the wolves she viewed as family. However, I would suggest you stay off the land. Our alpha wouldn't hesitate to sic his shadow wolves on you if it meant protecting what's left of our pack. the last sentence was a warning, but he nudged her in the direction of the village. My name's Flame's Mourning, by the way. If you ever want to talk, just think of me. I'll know. he dipped his head to her respectfully, and then turned toward the lake, ears swiveling and his nose raised slightly, trying to catch his sister's scent.
