While we're on the improved/side list subject, it would be a heck of a lot easier for other people if you worked by points. For example, Tier 1 advent would be 1 point, Tier 2, 1.5 or something. Then, if you had all of the pets numbered, you could add up what pets you would need to make it fair. It would be so easy to be able to look at the lists and be able to see if you have overpay or underpay if you don't know your lists well.

YES! That would be great. I still have no idea how big the gap is between tiers on the advent and September lists...

That wouldn't work because gaps are different for tiers. ^^ ex. A pet worth 1 point would be an unfair swap for a pet with 2 points, but really the gap is small enough that they would be a fair swap. c:

In theory it could work. You would just have to determine how many more it would be worth.

For example, (not actuality, it would have to be figured out) tier 1 could be 1 point. And tier 2 only be 1.25 points. Therefore, 5 pets from tier 1 would be worth 4 pets from tier 2. Similarly, you could get up to the highest point values and they could be in the hundreds or thousands even.

Therefore a Spotted Tribal could be 250 points and a Blue Toxic could be 200 points. So you would know that a nonjewel being 450 points you know would be worth a spotted tribal + a blue toxic.

I agree with this! Amkorra and i could count more than just ur pets if we had help! We could help determine the placement of pets on the actual rarity list ^^

Late reply is late XD *screw you timezones*

an estimate: I have 7 hours of work left, will be home in 8, after that... give me about 2 hours to complete everything, then I'm going to make a Topic: the big count, hoping I get about 20 trusted users to help

first big goal would be all the URs
but after that... we really could do the top main list pets. it's all just a matter of time.
expect to hear from me in the about 10 hours

I had actually started a list like that a while ago. Like a point system, but rather than it being simple "rarity math" (2 R= VR) or anything like that, it's a more complicated system.

I started with this, but it proved ineffective. I should have started off with uncommons rather than rares.

6 - tier 2 advent list
7 - tier 3 advent list
8- tier 4 advent list

13 - Light Leopard = Grinner [s] = Halloween Cat = Skelebun

Nons worth three sorbets

A grinner's worth ~13 mid-late '09 rares

The GWJ is only worth a (high) september less than a low non

I'm not the best at rarities, but I'm sure those who are can piece together a point system using example trades.

If you're looking for basic Rares List math / pet worth I made this chart here a while ago:

2x Mid/High Advent = 1 Grinner
3x Grinner = 1 Blue Rose
3x Blue Rose = 1 Balloon Dog
4x Balloon Dogs = 1 Sorbet
3x Sorbet = 1 Nonswirl
------------------------------
So 216 Advents = 1 Nonswirl

But if you want to apply a point system to all Rares List pets you would need to wait for the Advent add-on list to be completed, so you can work out what number to start at (unless you want to go into 0.5, 0.2 etc but that can get complicated). You can't start too low like an uncommon or run-of-the-mill rare or anything because the numbers at the top of the list would get unmanageably high and it would complicate things unnecessarily. Also, I believe Hekomi and the others are working on defining the gaps better so I'd wait to see what they have in mind before jumping into such a project.

Just thinking how a true rarity list might help cut down on the insane demand frenzy that goes on with some pets (ie- Black Advent, 2012 PPS Winged Lion) especially if a code could also be worked out to factor in 'demand' when working from a true rarity list.
Lets say that the demand is low, then the pet would only have it's true rarity number as it's trade 'value'... Very High might add as much as the lowest Advent List pet's rarity rating number but no more. This would put an end to a lot of the insane demands and make it a lot easier for newer players to be able to trade up to better pets and at the same time let older members have a better chance at finally finishing their collections.
Trading should be fun, but lately demand has made even the Rare's List Guide almost impossible to use as a guide because 'no one likes the rats and bunnies so they are hard to trade and everyone likes the dogs'

We are already working on a list that explains all the gaps between pets. I personally don't like the idea of a point system. Making a list without demand has no use either, as demand is a big factor on CS.

Trouble and i have talked over gaps and set up a list, we are just waiting for hekomi to check it over.

2x Mid/High Advent = 1 Grinner
3x Grinner = 1 Blue Rose
3x Blue Rose = 1 Balloon Dog
4x Balloon Dogs = 1 Sorbet
3x Sorbet = 1 Nonswirl
------------------------------
So 216 Advents = 1 Nonswirl

This is basically correct. 5 nons = sunjewel so 216x5 = 1080 advents for 1 sunjewel.

Some other easy to use values
2x balloon = yellow toxic
2x yell/green tox = sorbet.

I can understand why some of you would like a point system that would make it in some ways easier to trade. That kind of a thing works for certain pets, such as the couple DD points out above. A point system for every pet would be too extreme though. It puts a complete strain on value for pets on the rares lists, and reduces the flexibility for trading available with the way things are right now. Apart from that, a point system also just simply doesn't work well because not all gaps between pets are perfectly nice "values" like a "0.5" or a "1" or something. Until further notice when a broken down list is available, just try to learn about the gaps for different pets. There's tons of information out there if you just search for it. As for the demand issue, a list with demand is on the whole more beneficial than one without, as it's very hard for many players to gauge exactly how much demand affects the value of certain pets on their own. A list with demand allows us to have a benchmark everybody can use as to the relative range of the value of a pet. It's up to the users now honestly to make sure they don't apply excessive demand or something to it so it stays true to form and helpful enough (as was originally intended).

I agree with DD and Kevinsaurus. The list is meant to be a guide and adding points to the pets would only make it more concrete than it needs to be. Yes most people do go by it but that also leaves room for some flexibility and trader preference. I really like the way it's set up now and trying to revamp the whole thing would only cause more chaos in the trading system. The list has been around for quite a while now and I love the idea that Hekomi is working on breaking down the gaps - it will definitely help. As far as making a whole new list or trying to rewrite it I think it's too much work and it won't really solve anything. You guys all had some really great ideas and I can see how they would help but personally I feel like the list should be let alone. Once Komi adds the gaps it will be much easier to use anyway. :)
Have a good day y'all.
